Having been through the grant application process myself, I can tell you that organizations must provide their non-profit status certification. Tourism in Lycoming County provides an economy second only to our largest County employer. Local taxes from tourism are in excess of $17Mil., with an additional $15Mil. generated in Federal taxes. Cynicism about grant awards based upon personal bias has no place here. I believe in the “numbers” and all indicators say that Lycoming County by a wide margin has the most effective tourism program out of the 12 peer Counties in the PA Wilds group. The reason for this is not due to “chance”. It is because talented people with a high degree of professionalism nurture art, culture, and events and help to support the volunteer organizations who create, manage, and run venues that appeal to thousands of tourists, and to our own Communities. Don’t mess with success by succumbing to rhetoric that is uninformed or based upon a divisive agenda.

It would seem that some of these groups getting tax money are for profit entities, despite their appearance otherwise. Not sure that is a good decision.

If you don't like the decisions, join the Visitor's Bureau and influence the choices.

"Lycoming County Fair..... will receive $9,000."
Absolute waste of money! A fair run by one single family, decisions railroaded by the same family, that benefit ($$$) yet again the same family. Money being thrown at a corrupt and inept organization, what a bad decision!
