This is a property tax on pets.

You're right Erik.Should be tax deductable,LOL. I'd rather see the money they donate (if it's really donated)to spay & neuter for adopted dogs from the shelter so it isn't so expensive to adopt.

Yet they don't have time to come to my neighborhood and check into DRUG DEALS and CHILD ABUSE, crimes that are openly committed on a daily bases. THE WORST OF THE CRIMINALS ARE THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF THIS CITY.

It's a state law that is meant to keep the animals safe should they ever become strays and one that provides a source of revenue for the state Department of Agriculture.

It is not a source of revenue.

The costs of these compliance officers exceeds the fees paid for licensing.

It's another waste of taxpayer money and burden on the average citizen.

Read the first sentence..."state dog law enforcement...".....not city dog law enforcement! How is the city to blame for wasting tax dollars? I think some people complain just to complain!

Thought the "gestapo" or "green police" going door to door were defeated in WWII? Huge over-reach by the nanny state!

Any dog owner who doesn't have their dog tagged or licensed is irresponsible - period.

REXJAG: Why is it "irresponsible" for someone not to report everything to the government? Grow a set and let go of the nanny state apron strings.

"" Need to have tags for cats then too. ""

. That thinking is the trap that has lead to more and more regulation and Taxing for centuries.

[Dogs] then add Cats then add Fish tanks, then then bird cages and on and on and on.

Be carefull and don't take the Bait..!

Take care of the dozen stray cats in my neighborhood who pee all over and then I will let you know if my dog has a license or not. Waste of time and money!
