Crooked elections

March 26, 2013

I have often wondered in the past years why our government would send former President Jimmy Carter to some of these other countries to monitor their elections....

Hayes- as usual you are incorrect, we have a Constitutional Republic. If we had a Democratic Republic, the people of California would not be represented in the Supreme Court because they voted down Same Sex Marriage.

We have democratic systems in place for voting, we promote democracy.

Eric, Your side is the one crying foul, you bring the need for oversight.

"We are not a democracy"

If you ever voted for a ballot initiative, you are in fact a democrat (small "d").

What is the mechanism those "representatives" are selected by, as per the Constitution again?

Were you aware Nobud, that a republic where the president/prime minister is elected by the people, rather than appointed by congress/parliament, is called a "democratic republic"?

We are not a democracy. We are a representative republic. Two different animals.

" But in our own country, elections are rigged, bought off by crooked politicians, illegal people voting."

And out come the right wing fairy tales.

But Al, we had right wingers monitoring elections in 2012, and writing down peoples names. Maybe you can explain why they chose to disproportionately monitor polling places in minority neighborhoods?

Our government does not send Jimmy Carter. He does not represent the US government. So I guess this letter is done.

If we need outside monitors (the UN tried to do this during the last election) then we have become a third-world nation.

Thank you, President Obama!
