Throw away trash

April 2, 2013

No matter who you are or where on this earth you live, it is very wrong to throw your trash anywhere you choose! We have a beautiful planet and we should each do our best to take care of it....

I was in Virginia or West Virginia and the fine was posted at $1500. It may have been a state park. I didn't see any litter while I was there. It may be higher now.

Jeff_ Are you high?! Seriously!! "Bush is a liar and a crook?" How juvenile. List for me any State or Fed politician that hasn't broke the rules to get elected. And what in the h33l does Bush have to do with a clean city? You're in need my friend.

Good letter.

I would add that more could be done to improve the gathering of recyclable material. It would greatly help with landfills and minimize the impact on the environment. The great outdoors is everyone's living space, not their dumping grounds.

I agree with Texas on this one, if you see trash laying around that bothers you, why complain about it? Take the bull by the horns and pick it up yourself! It's the American way!

There is more yapping about trash on these LTE's than there is action.

When I lived in Midland, TX, the home of Laura Bush, people had dumpsters in their alleys behind the homes. The wind was always blowing 10 to 20 mph and blowing trash out of the dumpsters, down the edges of the alleys, across the lots and into open fields. So every spring, the city/county organized large groups of volunteers, many times through businesses, churches, and clubs to go out and clean up. It looked nice then.

Maybe that is what Lycoming Co. and many of the boroughs ought to do. Organize community trash pick-up days after the last snow.

Throwing trash anywhere seems to be a tradition in many parts of the country......including our cities where there are plenty of trash cans available for free.
