Cameras will just push crime and problems elsewhere! Of course we see everyday that criminals don't care if cameras are present or not, Otherwise these caught on camera shows or Worlds dumbest criminals would not be so popular.

Fixed cameras are old technology.

Need to get some drones.

"Police" cameras??? Already?? It's a term that sounds a tad ominous, sinister, portentous and invasive, if you ask me. The SG used it as a headline for today's edition. From now on, though,let's just go with "surveillance" cameras instead. We all feel the "big brother" era is not too far away, but don't run towards it. SG, don't hurry what will happen soon enough to America.

( I Do Believe It's Much To Late Of Those Fatalities Here In Our City Parks / Streets. So Now This Is What It Takes In Order To Catch Invaders / Criminals That Come Here With Their Guns And Drugs. The High Crimes Here Are Never Going To End No Matter What Devices Are Installed. The Problem Here Is That Nobody Wants To Be Nor Willing To Take That Step In Becoming Involved. So They Set Up Neighborhood Watch Programs In Collaboration With The Local Police Department. Though What Good Does It Do Us When Others Simply Wont Participate. Stuck On Stupid As Usual. Sad...

Great! Do you think we could get a couple of benches so we can sit and watch our kids play on the equipment at brandon? There are benches lining the sidewalks there but only two by the playground and one has obstructed view of the playground! Also, what about strategically placed porta potties during peak seasons? Loyalsock and South Williamsport both have bathrooms at their parks!

@fromtheport,

You make it sound as though if you remove housing for the crime "element," you will decrease crime. I highly doubt this would work considering the drug market for this area. As long as there is a a high demand for drugs and not enough supply, you are going to have crime.

I think it's a good idea for these cameras to be installed, but I could also name a few other areas in the city where cameras could be installed as well.

Great! Doesnt take long until they know there are cameras there and they just move on to the next beatiful park and destroy that and the cycle continues. Just like when they knocked all those houses down for the hospial and the Y the ghetto just moved out one block further and devalued those houses, we should start looking at containing and immobilizing crime, let it happen around little league blvd and the center and the weightman building, and patrol heavily outside that area to keep it contained so the rest of the city wont turn to crap.

Them's some expensive cameras.

Hundreds of thousands of our tax dollars spent just to spy on ourselves. What a country.

Now they can just sit there and watch them shoot each other free entertainment.

This is definitely a step in the right direction to combat crime and promote safety within the city. The Streets will and should be next for camera placement but this is the first step.
