The video of the dog being skinned alive emerged from a "farm" in China. You can easily see the video by googling"dog skinned alive". People buying collars with fur are apparently getting dog fur when they think they are getting mink, etc. Some retailers selling garments in the USA with fur are apparently getting fur from inhumanely killed dogs. If people would go to places like Causes**** and sign petitions to stop these practices, garment makers could pressure these Chinese farms to be more humane. The video would never have emerged if the dogs were killed humanely. There are more and more videos emerging where animals are burned alive, stomped to death, etc. Bottom line, if you are going to kill an animal try to be as humane as possible. I became a vegetarian several years ago mainly by seeing a video of animals being slaughtered. I was on Zocor and had a cholesterol level of 232. I now take no meds and my cholesterol level is 179. I have more endurance and my jo

I am with Andy on this one. What is the point of writing a letter to the Sun-Gazette about this? The writer does not tell us where this even occurred. Did it occur in Williamsport or surrounding areas? It most likely was not even in our country.

Not that I'm for skinning dogs for their fur, but I am for wearing fur. Not all fur bearing animals are cute cuddly puppies. For example, nutria fur comes from a large rodent native to South America that was introduced to South Louisiana about a hundred years ago by the founder of Tabasco hot sauce. They are so prolific now that they are truly a danger to man. They eat large quantities of marsh grass and burrow into the protective levees, weakening them. Trapping these animals for their fur is not only fashionable, it reduces the damage to the coastal marshes and levee system.
