Hungry

April 9, 2013

Are there any good reasons for hunger in America? Of course not. I remember seeing the newsreels of the breadlines of down and out citizens during the “Great Depression....

Buff-Jerry:

You don't get it.

Baby Boomers are starting to retire.

The unemployed have given up.

The number of workers versus non-workers is growing.

This is a recipe for disaster.

Now, the cost of Obamacare is far beyond projections and the liberals want to add 12-20 million illegal aliens to our workforce.

Pa. did have a 3 year benefit limit on single adults at a point in time. This never applied to those with dependents. "Cash Assistance was different than the old "Aid to Families with Dependent Children". Again, single adults are no longer eligible for cash in Pa.. Try to follow this, each case is assessed on an aggregate income basis when determining "Food Stamps" or EBT credited food monies. If a single individual has 0 cash income the EBT increases. if they get partial employment the EBT drops. Individuals on SS, SSI and SSD are also food stamp eligible based on income vs expenses. A senior citizen, non-homeowner who receives less than the national poverty guideline in benefits but pays rent and utilities of an average nature is also eligible. If someone has Section 8 or Public Housing they get less on the "Food Stamp" end. Everything is a means test.

"Welfare has had a three year lifetime limit since Clinton was President. How do you figure they are able to pull it off?"

I haven't the foggiest idea how they do it. I just know they do it and have been doing it for a good many years.

I was sorta' hoping one of the know-it-all liberals would be able to tell us how this is done, since they have so much more practice in getting welfare benefits.

Buff, Been a long day. Worked late and went out to dinner with my son that was in town.

Well our shares of the national debt as a taxpayer are around $120,000. Isn't that enough bondage? How do you plan to pay for your share?

Off to bed, have to get up early to earn more money to pay the tax man.

My step-father was born in 1908 and was a hard working man who never took a dime he didn't earn. He had a full time job and also worked as the janitor of our church to bring in extra money. He had a brother who lived in Wmspt who was the opposite. He tried to help him, but "George" was just too lazy.

George and his FIRST wife lived on welfare. She got tired of it and left him. He married another woman who was borderline "mentally challenged." They had 5 kids. The entire family was on welfare. George and Marie were on welfare until they both died. Welfare that even furnished them a car! By the way, eventually she died of cancer, but not before the state paid out hundreds of thousands to pay for her medial care.

Of their 5 kids, 4 of them along with their families, were on welfare. Now THEIR kids are living on welfare.....along with their live-ins and kids.

So tell me how generational welfare doesn't exist.

And yes, everyone of them still live in W

For those who don't think fraud is rampant in these assistance programs, it's likely because you've never hung with the wrong people, like I have. There's a reason certain individuals make sure they have extra "work" when the first of the month falls on a Friday. These same individuals and\or their babies' mothers collect their own assistance benefits, of course.

Those on assistance also pay little if anything in, so it's a double hit on the balance sheet.

Reform is needed in almost every area of government spending, taxation, and regulation, but the above elected the guy who only seeks to keep it coming, and promises even more.

Meanwhile, how 'bout them Phillies! Not! Pirates? Not.

Hi jerry.. yes, I know, discussing things with Erik I'd trying. His initial post this morning was an attempt to blame the President and liberals for the fact that children and elderly people don't work. I called nonsense because that's what it is. Great analogy, btw...

Erik - possibly for cash. Pa. does not give cash to single adults. "Food Stamps" are the same everywhere. A Federal Program.

I wonder how many who are commenting actually are knowledgeable about EBT? I am referring to information first hand. Catching stories about fraud on any mass media are isolated incidents. In total the picture looks horrible. How many of you have contacted the local Department of Public Assistance. Did you even read the allowable items? Eric/Josh - when in the past was assistance less than today. Single individuals could get cash assistance in the past. Not today. If a single person recieving no cash assistance applies for food stamps the individual amount will increase because the incoming cash decreased. You can disagree and argue until your laptop dies, the truth is what it is. Again, what year were the benefits temporary when you assert multi-generational? If this is a factual it certainly isn't solely attributable to the current administration.

First, do you think no on will notice cameras attached to large poles without reading it in the paper. Which leads to the next point, how many criminals are you estimating read the newspaper.

Addressing your second paragraph, If you feel you would like to verbalize your own opinions in this section, feel free to do so. I think most on here agree that this paper publishes LTE's representing various ideologies. Or do you perhaps desire not to view opinions that differ from your own(thats not very "DIVERSE" of you).
