Back in the late 1960's, First Lady Lady Bird Johnson campaigned against roadside litter and suggested a steep fine be imposed on anyone convicted of throwing litter out of their vehicles. I believe at the time the imposed fine was $300, which was a considerable chunk of change. What needs to be done now is a revisit on this penalty and perhaps up the fine to $1000 for each offense, plus wearing a jacket with reflective bands and carrying a trash bag for about 50 hours along a busy highway.

A bigger sign will help. Just like the sign that said gun free zone in Connecticut. And Aurora and..

Littering is a by product of the way some people raise their families. When you teach your children that they can do no wrong and somebody else is at fault for your failures, you lose a sense of responsibility for yourself and others.

I feel most litter comes from carelessness.

I would like to think that we do not have a large number of people throwing trash out their vehicle windows.

I feel most litter flies out from trucks and cars because it is not secured in the back of a pickup or inside a car with windows open.

The best way to reduce litter is to buy less, carry your own bag so you do not need to get one at the store, and recycle or reuse everything possible.

Most of the litter I see is Alcohol related.

Toss it [beer bottle]

It seem Catch 22 Laws encourage Littering.

The reason people litter is because they feel someone else should pick up after them, so then it becomes someone else's problem and not theirs.

Perfect description of liberals, and probably those responsibile for the vast majority of the roadside litter.
