Bombs a greater threat

April 18, 2013

Personally, after the Boston marathon today, maybe President Obama should ban bombs as well as the guns! I'm more afraid of the bombs than the guns! Gretchen H....

Spike, those diplomats and Navy Seals understood the risks. But they expected that the government would do all that they could do to keep them safe, (the Adminstration did not). Then the Administration starting a campaign of lies to hide their incompetence. Like most other Kool Aid drinking Democrats I'm sure you want the story to just go away so the Administration doesn't have to answer for it. Those that were lost deserve better. On another note, why is it that liberals can see how ridiculous calls to ban knives and pressure cookers is and still want to blame guns for violent crimes committed by killers? There are enough laws on the books. Enforce current laws to protect citizens. I just read a statistic that of 48,000 convicted felons who attempted to illegally purchase firearms, only 44 were prosecuted. Are you kidding me?

All of this tragedy could have been a lot worse had they used a vehicle to drive through the crowd using it as a "assault weapon" then what we outlaw all cars

We need laws to outlaw bombs! What we already have laws against this? Why would someone break the law? this is why we must wake up and realize that more laws are not the answer period! we had laws in effect when newtown happened or did we forget about them why we try hastily to rush some bogus gun control legislation

And the saga continues....

Boston is completely shut down! Schools and colleges closed. The taxi business is closed down, buses aren't allowed to move. A police officer is dead and a campus police officer wounded.

A self-proclaimed muslim from Chechnya is on the run.

Police are telling everyone in Boston to REMAIN IN THEIR HOMES UNDER LOCKDOWN. And what happens if he gets into one of those homes?

Given the events unfolding in Boston over the past few days, and the terror that this surviving (self proclaimed Muslim).......

What do you think? Maybe we just need more tolerance. Yeah, that's working out well for the US! Tolerance decimated an entire community in Boston, severed limbs, took lives, and at this moment is determined to take even more lives...

Yeah...more tolerance...

Buff:

There was a bipartisan proposal, that had the support of law enforcement, which would have increased penalties and provided more resources to prosecute those who attempt to purchase a firearm, but are convicted felons (something the Obama Administration refuses to do).

Democrats lined up to vote against it.

Why?

Because, just like the Obama Administration and the Clinton Administration, liberals do not prosecute criminals as harshly as conservatives.....after all, allowing felons to vote is on the liberal wish-list.

The House GOP has passed repeal and replace legislation for Obamacare, passed numerous tax reform/jobs bills and actually passed budgets. They also had an alternative gun-control bill voted down the same day as the Dems did.

You know this, of course, but choose to stick with the narrative, parrot the lies and look the fool. Your dime.

Like healthcare and gun violence, it's probably safe to say that the ultimate republican response will be.. nothing.

The liberals here say that we should not politicize the bombing.

But liberals can introduce legislation right after a shooting.

Liberal hypocrisy on display!

msgsheets - enough with Benghazi. Diplomats understand the risk with assignment. Assumed risk just like police, military, etc. The risk is higher. You can accept or turn down. This is not saying an investigation is or was not warranted. However the risk is a bit higher than being a counter person at Taco Bell.

Chuck,"I bet the right was breathing a huge sigh of relief that it was a bomb and not a gun."

It couldn't have been a bomb. We have very strict bomb control laws here. It is illegal to buy, sell or manufacture bombs except for government use. It is even illegal to have "bomb making materials". There is no way anyone in this country could be killed with a bomb, because they are illegal. Oh wait, maybe criminals don't obey laws. Yeah, that must be it. Who could have seen that coming?

The problem with these terrible occurrances is that instead of finding out WHO did it, many pundits and others try to find out WHY they did it. Almost without exception, it is blamed on the right.

Chuck,"The right shows how insensitive and dumb they really are."

Chuck tells us how bad it is that the right would make a political statement about the bombing, but this was his first statement, and then he feigned sympathy for the bombing victims. Then in later post he continues his attack on the right. The pot calling the kettle black?

Yes, in places where firearms are restricted, criminals use knives and bombs.

Northern Ireland was a great example of what happens with strict gun control.....the criminals switch to other tools.

The Middle East is another example where mass devastation is created using bombs.

Liberals hope to create a false sense of security by restricting firearms.

This event reveals the futility of any such effort.

Vince, the left and right always blame each other. Let the authorities determine who is at fault. Then point the blame if it is that important to you. I hope the catch these people and they get there just, left or right.

Rick, the left always gets away with trying to politicize every event such as this one to further their agenda to the detriment of actually finding the truth. It's like they have a playbook ready to go with talking points that point to conservatives. And they are almost always wrong in the end. It's about time they were called on that. But as soon as the knee jerk hypocrisy is pointed out you on the left say what you did here.

Well the right does not jump to conclusions like the left does. At least not until after the left goes into their "blame Conservatives" mode and are trying to defend themselves.

"To top it all off this letter is using a tragic event to make a political statement. Something you on the right like to accuse the left of doing all the time."

Chuck, the left DOES THIS all the time, every time, without exception. Every time some mass killing happens the left IMMEDIATELY (as I stated below) tries to connect the attack with some conservative group. Remember how someone in the media after the Aurora theater attack immediately thought to look at local tea party membership for a connection? When he found someone with the same name on the tea party rolls he immediatly, without further checking, reported that the shooter was a tea party member? Where was your outrage at that, Mr. Reeder?

What's wrong with following the precedent that you on the Left have established?

That was just a theory Vince along with many others because most were already thinking it was some foreign terrorist. They even took in a Saudi here on a student visa a questioned him. I am sure most here will agree the media did not handle this very well. Strangely though, I found a Chinese web site that praises our media, as their media would not report this the way we do.

Keep on banning things, this is fun to read on my day off.

I express that sentiment after those events however the right went into defensive mode after Sandy Hook and attack mode after Benghazi. And again without knowing all the facts you guys show how insensitive you are.

Did you not know Vince the right wing media is sure it is Muslim back attack and now republicans want to halt immigration reform because Muslim insurgents are trainint to pass for Mexican.

The right is insensitive and dumb and continue to show it. The left hasn't written a letter about the bombing and comparing it with guns.

"The right shows how insensitive and dumb they really are." Chuck Reeder

How is that exactly, Chuck? Did you say similar things when the left and the media immediately wondered aloud if the bomber was some white conservative upset on tax day? Or perhaps you were disappointed in Bawney Fwank saying that no tax cut would have prevented this? Maybe you has something to say to the Salon dot com writer that opined that if the bomber was anything but a white guy it would set back the Liberal agenda (or some such nonsense)?

And after that you are upset that a conservative uses this event to point out how stupid the anti-gun agenda is.
