Rip off!

April 22, 2013

I know a lady who is 95 years young. She was hard of hearing and a friend took her to get a pair of hearing aids. She wore them a while, but couldn’t hear any better....

Does the the lady's church have/use microphones at its pulpit? If not, why not? Does it provide wheelchair service to the front pews where she might hear the service a little better? Lastly, does this lady have problems hearing in normal conversations or viewing television? Wearing hearing aids does not guarantee perfect hearing will be restored. .

Maybe a good start for this lady, would be having a RELIABLE hearing test? I think $8,000 for hearing aids is a little ridiculous.

Maybe she needs to go to a church where the pastor will "lay hands" upon her and heal her hearing. ;)

This sounds like another less than reputable vendor. She should see a audiologist at another location and make sure they are a doctor and not just some guy hawking products from a storefront. Take her aids with her to see if they were done correctly.

I would say that this woman did get "Ripped Off", considering my husband bought a set of hearing aids for $2,500, upkeep and the ear pieces are free all we buy are the batteries.

Hearing aids work when they amplify frequencies you faintly hear. There will come a time that you cannot hear particular frequencies and no amount of amplifiction will work. There are implants that restore hearing. They are quite expensive. Never the less, in regard to hearing aid companies: There are a lot of shyters out there. So beware!

I would have her friend call the wnep news station and see if they can help her get her money back! That is to much money for her to lose from a product that didn't work.

I believe if I reach 95 I'd spent the $8000 on beer because a sermon would be hardly worth paying $8000 to listen too the pastor is part owner in the hearing aide company I bet
