First of all, it's this simple.. legally cars have to yield to pedestrians, if you're halfway across the street and a car starts honking at you ignoring them and keep walking. Don't go all hostile and vulgur, just keep walking across the street. More importantly, for a normal human being, it doesn't take very long to walk across a street unless you're intentionally trying to be a **** to traffic waiting for you to cross. The exception to that might be people with strollers and elderly.

I agree drivers should be cautious of people crossing at intersections but people walking should also pay more attention to their surroundings. People drive way too fast in the downtown area. Two bigger problems in Williamsport are people walking where there is no cross walk, and, parents letting little ones roam behind them or in front of them. I see so many young parents totally oblivious to their children as they are walking the streets. I am surprised more people are not hit and killed or injured. Drivers should respect pedestrians but also pedestrians should be more aware of what is going on around them.

Listen, both places are ghetto and surrounded by the very type of people that are consistently des***** because of their actions. So when your driving down that way and your 6 blocks away and you see that person starting to cross the street and 40 seconds latter your close to them and they are intentionally walking slow because they figure if they cant drive why should you, just hit them they deserve it. Help the city reclaim the streets.

@Fromtheport..*shakes head* You're right it is what people here refer to as the ghetto and like it or not, a large # of the 'drug related issues' come from that part of town. But I'm not going to sit here and tell someone to intentionally run people down..that's just ludicrous.

@msamerica101 I agree with your overall point but the one part of your sentence if I may, I don't like is 'young parents'. I see all types of parents, varying ages, do the very same thing and my wife and I are fairly young and complain about it all the time. A few days ago at Indian Park while I was driving very slowly as you should there, two little kids ran, unattended by their parents (probably late 30's early 40's) right out from behind a bush into the 'road'. If I had been going 25-35 mph in downtown Williamsport, I would have unfortunately, most likely killed them both. I agree 100% it goes both ways as far as needed to be more cautious.

fromtheport - great advice. Enjoy your time in prison for aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. I'm sure "they" walk slow because "they" are jealous of you driving. Rude is one thing, yes the action of "they" is rude but hardly deserving of being hit by an automobile. But, feel free, hope I'm behind you so I can call 911 and give your license# to the police. I will willingly testify against you. You are no better than what you say "they" are doing and thinking. You also think like a criminal.
