Kudos on trash letters

May 9, 2013

Kudos to Chris Manny and, especially to Abigail Baker, age 11, for letters concerning roadside trash. I routinely pick up trash along the two blocks from the post office on Route 45 and my home....

( I See This Every Single Day People Trashing Every Where. I Take The Bus Usually And You Should See The Trash Downtown. Others That Do This Must Live This Way As Well. People Today Just Don't Have Any Couth In Our Society. That's A Proven Fact!

In my experieince, it is the uneducated who continue to litter. It causes them to be completel yignorant to their actions, whether it be white trash or the urban culture.

This seems the appropriate opportunity to say...Those-of-you, who cleaned-up all the trash (along 180, on Earth Day), between the Faxon Exit & Market Street Bridge...WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!!

For what it's worth, most new cars are not equipped with ashtrays and haven't been for several years. This adds to the problem.

I agree Reeder, there is no easy answer. I'd like to say, as far as the streets (for walkers) and parks, put in trash cans. But am I naive enough to think everyone will use them? Not remotely. As far as the high ways, it comes down to respect and unfortunately, there's too many people who don't know what that means.

That attitude extends beyond the roadways. Like the letter writer I don't know what the answer is except to bend and pick up and drop in a trash can.

Amen Shaman!!!

I spent a few hours a couple weeks ago cleaning up the Playground at Jackson Elementary School where, after hours, I routinely take my 1 year old son. If you have a kid or know anything about them, you know kids find basically everything curious. So obviously he's at that stage where he wants to pick up all the cigarette's, soda bottles, candy rappers, and other trash left over by all the High School kids who use it as their local 'hang out' to smoke and talk inappropriately(first hand experience of being able to hear it while having my son there).

While I think there should be at least one trash can on the playground, it doesn't change the fact these kids and whomever else (I'm sure it's not just high school kids, I'm sure it's some adults too) that are throwing trash and cigarettes on the ground are pathetic human beings who have no respect for other people.

...Not-to-mention those (MOST plentiful) "donations" made, by people too-stupid to understand why the ashtrays (in their vehicles) are provided!!
