nobud - you do realize your "indirect benefit" argument can be used to "justify" virtually any and all government expenditures?

rick, does that make our interstate highway system, which roads are destroyed by tractor trailers at the cost of the taxpayer corporate welfare also? Perhaps all trucking should be done on privately funded roads. That would make the cost of those groceries probably 100 times what they are now. Or, perhaps you would favor a mileage excise tax on all trucks. I would favor a measure that would allow only taxpayers to drive on the roads. Does any of this sound silly yet?
Does that then make it Government welfare?
Rick, I think SEDA-COG that owns this bridge?
curtis, while you may not actually ride on a train over that bridge, that fact that it is there and allows commerce to take place--just like our highway system--you will benefit from it. Those doing commerce with freight on the trains that use that bridge have employees and pay taxes. So, you benefit from reduced taxes because that co and it's staff pay taxes. They also patronize other businesses and the same thing happens. Not every expenditure equates to a direct financial or social benefit for every citizen, it is often hidden.

So this is a project funded entirely by government? Who will be using the bridge, if anyone?
