Imposing beliefs

May 17, 2013

In response to Melissa Brown's letter printed on 5/13/13, I'm compelled to say this: As a Christian, I'm convinced you'll answer to God for your abortions and so will our nation as a whole for......

And.....pop goes the cork.

Yes, Christopher. I'm sure it's that famous vacant smile of those too unintelligent to realize they're not as smart as their own silly perception of themselves lead them to believe. You should be very familiar with that one, since you see it as frequently as you see yourself on a shiny surface.

By the way, it's V-E-G-E-T-A-T-I-V-E, not "vegitative", Mr. Einstein! Spelled like its root word, 'vegetable'... very applicable to your ilk.

Grown ups know when its time to call it a day and say goodbye. Children do not.

So THAT'S why you favor killing children, eh? It doesn't make a huge difference if the victim is adult or child, the turn-on for your ilk is their HELPLESSNESS!

" Something that USED to be a human being, totally dependent on a connection to a machine for its existence, just simply isn't a human being anymore"

Yes Wayne, and when you are in a bad car wreck, and left in a persistant vegitative state (not really that different than the one you're in now), I'm quite certain you would want your family to bankrupt themselves to keep you hooked up to machines that provide the appearance that the lights are on, even though nobody's home.

That won't happen to my family. Grown ups know when its time to call it a day and say goodbye. Children do not.

To Texas, that is a different Melissa Brown. My last name is not now, nor has it ever been, Farenish. She used to write for the Sun Gazette as a reporter. I only ever submitted letters to the editor.

"Second, I do not need some fictional, mythical being to forgive me for doing or believing something that YOU think is wrong."--MelissaBrown

Do you remember this from "The Beginning of All Things" By Melissa Brown Farenish, Feb 7, 2010........."So I bid adieu for now, as I sit here and count down the hours, minutes, and hopefully not the days. My puffy fingers are not so good at typing any more, so I'm keeping this short but sweet. I'll be back in April with accounts of my long, sleepless nights and joyful days with the baby. Lord knows I will need the reprieve of cozying up with a warm laptop and sharing my thoughts with all of you."

You talked about "Lord" at that time and now you call him a fictional being. What changed?

"Now, 33 years later my husband and I are faced with the important decision of naming our unborn daughter. We have two months to decide, which I think is plenty of time. But every day, I get at least one person asking me “Do you have any names?”" From the article "What's In a Name?", By Melissa Brown Farenish, Dec 6, 2009

Unborn daughter sounds like a person to me.

Something that USED to be a human being, totally dependent on a connection to a machine for its existence, just simply isn't a human being anymore, and doesn't deserve to live, because it can't survive without the support of a machine. Never mind that at some point, it just might become well enough not to need the machine any more. It's not human now because it's connected to a machine to survive. Kill it.

""...but until a fetus can live outside the womb on its own.." - MelissaBrown

So is that around that 24 week range? or is it not until it exits the body in a live state?"

C'mon now Gavin. Something that requires an umbilical connection to a human being to live, can not in any way be considered an individual. Something that cannot survive with any amount of medical care or attention when not physically, biologically connected to a human being, is NOT an individual.

"Because I'm convinced (by modern science, not simply the Bible) that abortion is murder, I don't want any of my hard-earned money to pay for even one abortion."

Newsflash: war is murder on a mass scale, and so is the death penalty. So, bottom line, if you want a war or the death penalty, get out your checkbook.

That is the logic of the letter writer. He makes the ridiculous assumption that if a taxpaying citizen doesn't support something the govt does, he shouldn't have to pay for it.

I propose this to the letter writer. We can use my tax dollars to pay for abortions, and you cover war, the death penalty, and AFDC.

I have an illustration on the 'no tax dollars are used to fund abortions' falsehood that ANYBODY can understand. You've got a small business. You have $500, which, coincidentally, is exactly your expenses for rent, wages, utilities, etc. You want to buy a gun for self defense. You apply for, and get, a Small Business Administration loan, but one stipulation is that you can't buy a weapon with the government money. So, you take the government money and pay your debts. Then, you take the $500 that you WOULD have used for your expenses and buy a gun. Now, you didn't use the government money to buy a gun, but receipt of the government money ENABLED you to pay your expenses AND buy a gun. Now, what's the difference? It's the same in the murder business.

Melissa,

When you had a fetus in your womb, did you have feelings for it? Did you love it? Did you want to eat foods that were good for its growth? Did you avoid certain food or drink that could harm it? When did you find out it's s.e.x? Did you choose some names before it was born? Did you buy a crib before it was born? Did you buy some clothes for it before it emerged into the world? Did you sing to it or talk to it in the womb? Did you feel it kicking your? What were your actions and reactions to that blob of cells?

"...but until a fetus can live outside the womb on its own.." - MelissaBrown

This statement by you then contradicts your answer today.

So the only thing Dr. Gosnell did wrong was to perform the "abortion" outside the body. Interesting to know.

USABorn, the article you cited at the start of this thread was also in today's edition of the SG. It does make one wonder how someone can be charged with first-degree murder for causing a 6-week old fetus to be aborted when the pro-choice people insist a fetus at that stage is not a person, and therefore has no right to life. How about it Libs? Is the murder charge legitimate?
