What is the truth about Benghazi? Why was no help sent? Could it possibly be that the administration had ilegelly given shoulder fire missiles to the rebels? Then after realizing that they had give......

DKMDKM:

We know from the original CIA talking points memo that everyone knew this was an Al Qaeda attack immediately.

The Obama administration blamed a YouTube video and even arrested the producer, a US citizen.

The video had nothing to do with the attack and was a lie so President Obama's re-election would not suffer.

Susan Rice went on the Sunday shows and lied.

Jay Carney went before the press and lied.

Hillary Clinton took interviews and lied.

President Obama went before the UN and lied.

I guess you weren't aware erik, that the leader of al Qaeda released a video in the days before the attack, calling for new attacks on Americans because of the video, among other things.

I have to say it's really incredible to see Americans killed by terrorists overseas, and Republicans siding with the terrorists.

"What is the truth about Benghazi?" - Jerry Hawley

*

When this event first happened, there were MANY people who'd suggested Ambassador Stevens had a TENDENCY to "fly, by the seat of his pants", and...seeing-as-how this was his THIRD assignment, in Libya...not at an embassy, but at a facility housing (primarily) CIA-"assets"...he KNEW what the risks were.

Eventually, even the "great American" 'Baggers will "get" that.

The truth is that it has been 248 since the attacks and Congress has not passed a declaration of war.

Congress has done nothing.

(Except point the finger of blame.)

"Why was no help sent?"

My opinion, from when the event first happened, was that President Obama's words of "no boots on the ground" philosophy for the level of involvement in Libya resonated though the minds of some people and that is why assistance was with-held.

By keeping military personnel out of the country, he was trying to say that the internal leadership and governing functions should be decided by the citizens themselves. He wanted to avoid involvement, or perceived involvement, that the US was trying to establish a government there, much like had happened in history of CIA in Iran, Iraq, etc.

Unfortunately, the pendulum of that idealism compromised and lead to the death of four Americans.

Reeder - "the right doesn't want the truth, Benghazi show's that." Are you serious? Maybe take a minute of time away from your blinders, look at some photos of what they did to our ambassador and what horror he and others went thru. Think about the fact we could have helped him and an order was given to stand down. And why we blamed the events on a movie clip. If this were a Rebublican in office, I can only imagine your comments.

This is a comment of desperation in trying to stand up for the president that you love so dearly.

If you are really serious, where were your posts over the past half a year advocating taking a stance of declaring war......and then against whom?

I know that you can offer better arguments than this.

Republicans altered official emails obtained from the WH. How despicable is it, that in their zeal to bring down a twice elected President they go to the length of altering a document to make it say something it didn't say?

I've made this comment numerous times, the most recent being on the letter titled "America's royal presidency" on May 6th.

I await your retraction.

Don't you just love how Republicans were out front of the "scandal" as it was happening in real time? I remember Romney making a complete ass of himself doing a dead sprint to get in front of cameras that very night, before anyone knew anything other than the consulate was being attacked. As always, the hatred from the right blinds them to acting in measured calmness. You scare people with your hatred, rather than rally them to your side. Please, keep on doing it!

JerryFromRI, you did make this comment on May-06-13 5:09 PM. "It has been 237 days since the terrorist attack in Benghazi and still Congress has not issued a declaration of war."

****

It was then followed by several other posts as follows:

1. rmiller May-06-13 7:54 PM "It has been 237 days since the terrorist attack in Benghazi and still Congress has not issued a declaration of war. " Jerry, and your point is?

2. Ritty77 May-06-13 8:58 PM. "Jerry, and your point is?" I was going to ask that too, Relene, but I figured that since he didn't get to it, he must not have one.

***

So are you really advocating that Congress should initiate actions to declare war on a certain group in Libya? Several other regular posters were also confused by your point but you did not clear the air with them. So what is you intent with this comment? Please elaborate. I have a simple mind so if you can use simple words, that would help me. Thank you.
