Why the church?

May 19, 2013

The courthouse is set up with the metal detector security check already? Will taxpayers have to pay for another system now? Are there that many reporting criminals in Williamsport that we need to us......

Here is the one issue I do see with this in terms of the 'criminals' that would be permitted to participate in this. It's non-violent, I think we can agree on that correct? Do you consider Drugs a Non-Violent crime? I don't. Why do I not? Because look at the incidents we have had over the last several months and beyond. Many of the shootings have occurred as a result of drug involvement. That, to me is where I draw the line. But, now if you draw the line there, what other crimes can you make that sort of argument about, burglarly, grand theft auto, I mean how literal are we being here to the non-violent aspect of this conversation. So, in that light, yea, I might feel differently if I lived next door.

If, one of us, lives next door, we might feel different. It is difficult to assign judgment without actually "residing in the back yard" so to speak. Spike, crime is crime. I agree that not all crimes are equal in propensity, but the mind of any offender, begs the question, "what next?"

Montoursville has a metal detector at the airport. Maybe they can work a deal with USAir to buy reduced fare one-way seats to Philly when there are empty seats.

No, these offenders are the D.U.I's. unpaid Fines and Costs,Domestic arrearage and very low level offenses. Might I also mention the State Parole Office is less than 34 blocks away to the south and west, next door to the Dept. of Public Assistance. This will bring who in to the neighborhood? Last time I checked those on state parole were a bit more sophisticated than D.U.I.'s.

Considering it would be a place for parolees/probationers to report, where there would be probation officers present to monitor them while they are there, and considering that the building would no longer be empty and the building maintained, yes, I wouldn't care that it's in my back yard.

Stupid statement. Individual homeowners vs. rental units. How many single homeowners in Montoursville in ratio to population ve. Williamsport? Are you saying you never took Section 8? Could you provide us a list of your high-end apartment locations, the number of units you own, your yearly income vs, your tax rate? Yes,the courthouse has metal detectors and....? These are low-level offenders.maybe you would prefer to see new taxes for a new prison. Pick your poison.
