Newberry Fires

Not again!! A while back when the 2 homes burned at the corner of Ridge Avenue and Fourth Street here in Newberry, I watched with amazement as the fire hydrant just across the street from these home......

Same thing happened on Fox Street in Old Lycoming Township a few months ago. The water company knew the water main up Mill Lane was rotted out for at LEAST ten years but they choose to do nothing about it. Now someone lost their home because of it. The water company won't pay to upgrade their infrastructure but rather they're in a "break and fix" mode.

Mr. Sober, you're 100% correct. In fact, the two homes you're talking about, I live right across the street from, just a few houses down. Then of course, as you said (the point of the article) we had to watch as a fellow neighbor and her daughter were left homeless after an a case of arson that could not be deterred due to poor water pressure.
