Williamsport streets

May 23, 2013

I have driven in a lot of towns and cities. I will say Williamsport has the worst streets of any place that I have been in the past few years....

What does Government saving me and helping me have to do with the roads? I don't need the government to 'save me'.

As for contacting the Water Authority, they won't take phone calls or read emails on this topic. Been there, tried that.

Garben78,

Could you tone down your somewhat arrogant and distasteful comments.

Spot on to the author! I'm looking at my third alignment in two years. It sure won't be the city paying the bill.

Williamsport is becoming a tale of two cities, the drug infested neighborhoods and the professional/retail (and restaurant) areas. Many good people are leaving because of the former. I hope we see a resurgence due to the latter. It has happened elsewhere, let's hope it happens here.

The deteriorating roads are a symptom. The root problem is that the city has become a festering dung heap. It's sad really, because there are many good hard working people in Williamsport, but the city has been overrun by the dregs of society imported from Philadelphia. When you bring in people who collect money from government rather than paying taxes, the infrastructure crumbles. There is no other possible outcome. Get prepared for an entire country of Williamsport-like roads.

"In the winter, the roads are plowed, but, slippery - complaints. Add more anti-skid and it ruins the road surface - complaint. Spring has been cold and wet and to properly repair roads is not the appropriate time - complaints. Bumpy roads means you idiots will slow-down and perhaps save a kid or pet from being run-down - or do you wanna complain that you cannot reach your quota"

Their is almost no accuracy to your entire statement. First of all, they do plow the roads, the complaints are about the fact that they do a REALLY poor job of it. It's slippery because the roads are STILL covered in snow because the plow trucks don't really plow the roads very well.

Spring has been wet and it's not been a good time to fix the roads? Where the heck have you been for the last 3 1/2 weeks? That's an excuse and not even a good one.

Needing to slow down is all well and good. Needing to drive 5 miles an hour because the roads are in such horrid condition is pathetic.

I see my comment must've upset Garben so it was removed. Let me rephrase it. The idea that the road problem isn't a problem and we shouldn't speak out about it is idiotic.

This isn't medival times. This doesn't have anything to do with Natural Disasters, this is a man made tax payer paid company mess. That NEEDS to be cleaned up!

I guess you forgot to (ALSO) lobby for more tax-cuts, for the high-roller$/1%ers.
