"The general closed his remarks with a version of the toast attributed to Commodore Stephen Decatur: "My country, may she always be right. My country, right or wrong."

Is Mansfield THAT desperate (to hire a President), that they'd sign-up a Neanderthal?

*

"...the Army and Air Force Exchange, the service retailer that he oversaw for five years."

*

I digress. He was a sales-and-marketing exec. My apologies to Neanderthals.

Picture Rocks also had a very moving memorial ceremony yesterday commemorating those that have fallen for our country.

The speaker from the Lions Club did a wonderful job of covering the history of Memorial Day and the changes that have occurred over the years, ie initially honoring only those from the Civil War and then later changing to cover those from all US wars. Also changing the date to the current Monday so we have a three day weekend and government employees get off.

Then the 6th grade girl and boy did a fabulous job of reciting (not reading) Flander's Field and the Gettysburg Address.

The pastor wove together a nice piece of the past and the present, changing over our lives to adapt but likewise clinging to past traditions that are so rich and meaningful.

Lastly the local VFW performed a 21 gun salute for those that were fallen. Taps was played. Touching.

My thanks go out to all in the armed forces that defend our nation and rights as Americans.

tiz memorial day. not supposed to be a day where you must comment and complain about beautiful memorial services for people that fought for your butt to be free TO write in and complain about services. dont you have anything better to do with your life than criticize someone elses? maybe you should step back and look at your negative nancy attitude, and thank those people you are cutting down and criticizing. just what have YOU done that makes YOU so dang special.. really. SMH
