Wayward individuals

May 30, 2013

In response to Karen Choate-Bassett"s letter (“Appalled at advice”) I must say she can be appalled as much as she likes but the facts are the facts and that is abortion has nothing to do with the 2n......

CHayes- good arguement in that respect. I guess we all pay for alot of things we don't support. Voting doesn't always effect what we end up paying for though.

And you would be willing to pay the TANF, and physically take care of all the unwanted children that would result in PP not being able to distribute low/no cost birth control? CHayes

If PP is giving away free birth control then why aren't these women getting it so they don't need abortions?

Personally I think EVERYONE adult in the US has a say in how their tax dollars are spent. It's called the voting booth. Beyond that, you're out of luck, with the exception thatif you don't love our country, you're more than free to leave it and move somewhere more to your liking.

What that means is, if you don't agree with a war the govt is undertaking,*****it up. You need to pay.

Don't support the death penalty?*****it up you need to pay.

Don't support farm subsidies?*****it up you need to pay.

Don't support taxpayer funded roads or schools?*****it up, you need to pay.

Don't support abortions? Wait a minute. Remind me why is that different again?

"I think those who support abortion should put thier money where thier mouth is. Instead of the Gov't. forcing ALL taxpayers to fund donations to planned parenthood"

And you would be willing to pay the TANF, and physically take care of all the unwanted children that would result in PP not being able to distribute low/no cost birth control?

Wow! You must be rich.

bowhunter39,your comment shows a side that often gets ignored.I personally think a father's wishes should be taken into consideration if they are willing/able to take custody upon birth. I will never understand why men have no voice on this. I'm glad you have found a way to be at peace with something you couldn't control.

Seriously, taxation in current context has nothing to do with 1 through 14. We had due process before taxes as we know them. The history of taxation is actually fairly interesting. Read a few articles on the origins if you are sitting by the air conditioner!

"The 2nd Amendment does not say anything about tax payers footing the bill for wayward individuals who refuse to take full accountability for their behavior"

Did the letter writer forget that there's an entire Constitution wrapped around the 2nd Amendment? I'm seeing that a lot these days.

Well...ya' gotta figure...the "Good Book" was never all that specific about methods, USED, to spread "God's love".

Fairly certain the author meant to reference the "1st Amendment".

The 2nd Amendment does not cover any taxation that resembles our tax system. Try the 16th. "n 1862, in order to support the Civil War effort, Congress enacted the nation's first income tax law. It was a forerunner of our modern income tax in that it was based on the principles of graduated, or progressive, taxation and of withholding income at the source. During the Civil War, a person earning from $600 to $10,000 per year paid tax at the rate of 3%. Those with incomes of more than $10,000 paid taxes at a higher rate. Additional sales and excise taxes were added, and an “inheritance” tax also made its debut. In 1866, internal revenue collections reached their highest point in the nation's 90-year history—more than $310 million, an amount not reached again until 1911." Questions do exist about the ratification of the 16th.

Maybe the way to solve this dilemma is to set up a separate center that performs cancer screenings, various tests and dispenses birth control but is in no shape or form associated with the killing portion of Planned Parenthood. They would have separate accounting systems, separate management, separate facilities.

I think those who support abortion should put thier money where thier mouth is. Instead of the Gov't. forcing ALL taxpayers to fund donations to planned parenthood, it should be listed on personal income tax returns where they list the other charities you can donate to .That way only those that support it fund it.

Abortion is wrong (with the exception of extreme medical situations) in my opinion.

Owning a gun is not.

'Tis true...although, SOME people feel they have a "right" to applying "The 2nd Amendment Solution" to eliminate those resources available to "wayward individuals who refuse to take full accountability for their behavior."
