1) The cost of health care and health insurance is a drain on everyones budget. Companies can't keep paying so much and shift the costs to their employees. The employees, in turn, then have less cash to buy necessities and wants so the companies sales are less and they earn less money. That's part of the reason that I am an advocate of a single payer system whereby the costs are spread out evenly via a dedicated tax to every employee and employer.

2)I think tariffs and tax reforms are in order to balance the cheap labor from China and similar countries and bring jobs back home.

Just wait a couple years, Mike. Obamacare is designed to fail and then give Democrats an excuse to advocate and implement single payer. I bet you can't wait til we get to a health care system that is the rival of that great single payer system they have in Britain, the NHS. You know, where government bureaucrats get to decide who lives and who dies. And where you have to wait 9 months for that operation in the hope that you will die before then so the government doesn't have to pay to treat you. Yeah, can't wait for that Mike.

That's a heckuva-way to celebrate Gridlock (via House T-Baggers) & Darrell Issa's perpetual-investigation/job-security efforts!

You "conservatives" think you're entitled to entertainment, AND maximum-efforts, from your Class O' 2010 legislators??

You ask too much.

Obamacare original cost 900 billion.

Updated cost 2.7 Trillion, oops.

And it's not even begun yet, as most lawmakers from both sides have said this is a train wreak waiting to happen.

Almost forgot, anyone making over 16K now has to pay 10% of their income to obtain this insurance plus a $2000 deductible each year. Isn't this the best "affordable care" ever devised?

When Republicans INSISTED that for-profit insurance-companies were part of the mix (regarding Obamacare), in exchange for extended unemployment-insurance payouts...what did people expect??

I totally agree but how will this affect WalMart and other stores that take advantage of this cheap labor to mass produce their products. As long as the American people are willing to support this process and big business profits from it, it will never change. Is WalMart willing to "buy American" and stop some of their current policies just to make a buck?

Unemployment has gotten worse since President Obama took office. More people have dropped out of the labor force and more jobs have disappeared in the years after his multiple stimulus programs.

Those programs also failed to repair our roads and bridges.

The Affordable Care Act will turn all medical records into electronic records at a time when electronic privacy is a joke.

The result of the ACA....reduced hours, less opportunity and, according to the GAO, we will still have 30 million citizens with no health insurance for the next 30 years.

Can anybody answer how the "Affordable Care Act" is supposed to make healthcare affordable?

And liberals, please be original & TRY to answer without mentioning George W. Bush.

Here's an example about why ACA could work as envisioned. I read a story by an American journalist living in Holland. They have essentially the exact same system in place and have had it in place for quite some time. The system works there. The notion that ACA is a novel, new idea may not be correct. And, I consider ACA to be something many conservatives should support as the idea of the individual mandate is a conservative idea, circa Heritage Foundation, 1989. Mitt the twit and Paul Ryan offered 'patient centered solutions' which was a statement that simply polled well.

Obamacare will have numerous flaws, I see it as a stab at a solution to the current "crisis" in healthcare. I believe the point is to have nearly everyone insured. Our current premiums jump as hospital costs rise. A primary driver of increased fees is the uninsured flooding E.R.'s and potential surgery, treatment, and admissions by those who have no ability to pay. In turn, even those of us with private policies or those provided by employers are constantly increased to cover the losses. As fewer people have coverage the projections of loss by providers are passed on to the insurance company. They raise their rates based upon projections. Our insurance rates have either increased or our plans have reduced coverage or increased co-pays for several years. I think everyone accepts that medical supplies, equipment and pharmaceuticals are charging the hospitals far beyond cost. I do agree with Kerstetter on point (1). As to (2), manufacturing is not returning.

This is an excellent letter. It will be quite interesting to see the reality kick in starting in January when this junk bill kicks in. When the left hackled Sara Palin for suggesting there were death panels and you all find out that there actually are, not in those words of course, you will be shocked. First to do will be the seniors. Good-bye to have the government sponges who post their support to the left. Laughing all the way.

Speaking of death panels, Kathleen Sebelius just showed firsthand how that will proceed. Little girl 10 trying to get a lung transplant to save her life, tries to get on the adult list, Sebelius says she can't intervene, "some people live, some people die." Judge orders she can get on the list, 2 days ago has the transplant and is still alive. Wonder if Sebelius would have made the same decision had it been her daughter, or Obama's daughters. Hmmm

Maybe that's the plan.Drive everyone to complete dependence on the Govt. , giving the Govt. complete contol over the people. Didn't someone else do that?

Greg better watch out. He's going to give himself a hernia struggling for negative metrics to attack the President with. When you have to pull put "job participation rate", that's a pretty good sign for the President.

So, if we believe something to be wrong we should just lie down and take it. Is that it? Is that what the left did when Bush 1 and 2 and Reagen were in office? So, I guess there were no anti-war protests in the 60's. Really? It is the American way to fight for what is right, not to just lie down and take it.

" someone has to pay when everyone goes on the govt plan."

Not trying to be a smart Alex here nobud, but if you think the ACA means people will be on a "single government plan", you might want to consider attending one of the ACA seminars at the SBDC. I just got an email about one the other day. I think its free, but not sure. Also not sure if it came from the Bucknell, or Lock Haven SBDC. Didn't pay much mind to it, as I don't forsee the thing I'm working on requiring that many employees anytime soon.

That is how you righties work isn't it. If we think it is wrong we are suppose to lie down and just take it.

Why don't they ever try to work with it, make it better for themselves, to rise above what they see as wrong. The right doesn't do any of that they just say no way.

I don't like it and you can't make me.

Yes at some point the adult thing to do is to concede defeat. You've lost multiple times in the legislature, and you've lost in the courts all the way up to, and including the Supreme Court. It's game over. The issue is settled. It's not going anywhere. Adults typically understand that they don't always get their way. They also should understand the level of BS rhetoric that has been involved in the debate over this, and now that it is decided, you don't have to like it, but you should make some effort to understand it. Particularly if you are a business owner.
