Why is Reeder constantly making a fool of himself publicly? Isn't it enough he does it on the forum without advertising it with his picayune drivel-filled LTE's?

LOL! When I saw the 'title' of this LTE I laughed to myself and thought "Oh--yeah---ANSWERS. I'll bet someone who thinks they have ALL the answers wrote that" and 1 name jumped to mind.

And guess what! It was the right name!!!

LOL! Sometimes these LTEs are much more amusing than the comic strips!

"If by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people - their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties - someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal"." Doesn't Mr. Reeder realize that most of the things on this list have eroded since Obama took office? The "Unaffordable Care Act" will cost more than most can afford, jobs have steadily dried up (recently 150 jobs in Lock Haven)Many have lost thier homes. Our Constitution is threatened (2nd. Ammendment)Policies abroad, really?

Mr. Reeder - you are obviously putting your Liberal spin on what you conceive as reality and refuse to see the facts as the rest of us do. I understand that you have a policy of not commenting on your own letters because you are unable to defend your positions, so I know that this comment is useless in debating you.

It's interesting that you had to go back 50 years to cite a Democrat. Why not any from today? Kennedy would not be a Democrat today.

And another Democrat from 50 years ago said this - "I have a dream, that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today!" That is the opposite of what today's Liberal believes.

I believe that I speak for all conservatives that comment here when I say this - I hope and pray that other Liberals take up Mr. Reeder's cause here and send in that "list of accomplishments that liberals and liberalism has made to our country. That would require writing several more letters."

Be ready to debate those claims, Liberals. We Conservatives will be.

One real big problem with liberalism as it has changed since John Kennedy's day is that to be a modern-day liberal, all you must do is care. Results do not matter, just intentions and caring.

Mr Reeder, you seem far from welcoming new ideas. Your comment of caring of the welfare of others, housing, jobs, etc may be thought without regard for how to do it. Is your idea of providing these things just providing money and benefits? Where will that come from? You might look at where you might find a liberal utopia of sorts and see how well off people are? Do the policies really help people? Do they hold them back and have them dependent on others? Do such areas have higher crime or lower? Is there more or less drug use? Is income evenly spread or are there huge gaps? How about unemployment? What about broken families? If you go to any big city and see where lots of money is poured with the thought to help the struggling, you will see continued poverty, drugs, broken families and dependent masses. Maybe looking forward should be to develop growth trends. Measuring to see that efforts work or don’t and taking action for results when it doesn’t. Maybe looking forward is to ac

"the welfare of the people - their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties"

++

Most people that write in on these letters do care for the people and the various issues that were mentioned. The concern is the type of solution, is it lasting, what are the unintended consequences, how does the solution detrimentally impact me, etc? MANY OF THE LIBERAL SOLUTIONS ONLY REINFORCE BEHAVIORS THAT PERPETUATE THE PROBLEMS.

If a man is hungry, you can give him a fish or you can teach him to fish. The liberal solution is to give him a fish for everyday of an individual's life. Most other people would be comfortable with teaching a person how to fish but then they expect them to exert their own efforts to do the fishing and provide for themselves.

In the US, the problem has been further complicated because the politicians are manipulated so tax revenues intended to help others are really diverted to help businesses.

The fix is so simple. Bring back manuf. to this country. Offer incentives to bus. that REPLACES imports and hire only Am. citizens.More jobs= more taxpayers& less welfare.Broaden the tax base.Take the cap off FICA.I'm sure many other things could be done to save this country. We are obviously going in the wrong direction.Party doesn't matter, common sense does.

The same John F. Kennedy you reference also stated, "Ask not what your country can do for you. Rather ask what you can do for your country."

Liberals love to claim they are the only ones who care about other people, the environment, etc. and everyone who opposes their policies have zero care about those things.

That is the big lie that undercuts everything else liberals say.

Knew it was Chuck before I read two sentences. He won't stand by is statements and defend them.

I wonder what Kennedy would say about the expansion, intrusion and oppression of the fed govt today? I don't believe he would be for it and the way it is destroying our rights and the fabric of our society.

"If a man is hungry, you can give him a fish or you can teach him to fish. " I agree with To Texas. The question is how do we "teach", how do we fund training and how do we provide a some support during the "teaching" period. How long can the "teaching" period exist? How do we make the "teaching" is in a marketable area? Do we "reteach" as some fields become obsolete? Everyone can not be a manual laborer. McDonalds only has x number of jobs. Let's hear some hows from the men(or women). What skill set can we give females that will provide employment.

Spike, sadly there are some who don't want to learn to fish. There is a whole segment of our population who NEVER intend to become self supporting, even if given the opportunity. They are willing to settle for a simple existence as long as it is given to them. Many never finished school and have no desire to go back and finish and get thier GED/ Diploma. It gives them an excuse to not look for work.I know people in thier 50's-60's who have never worked a day in thier life. Many younger folks too.All are on assistance in one form or another. In many cases its generational.

Yeah! Those dirty liberals are always running around telling people who they can and can't marry, interposing themselves between people and their doctors like if they want to have an abortion or take a family member off of life support, trying to force people to show photo ID at the polls (even to family members), and throwing people in prison for posessing a naturally occurring weed. What ate they thinking about.

Oh. Wait a minute....
