Why would you want something that you think is ineffective explained?

Buff, I see that you ignored some of the tougher questions and failed to explain why someone with more and better training than most local police departments should be kept from being equipped to defend the Constitution. What I find more interesting is that you and many others want the government to have all of the power. How progressive of you. Since arms are (unfortunately) the ultimate power, granting government the authority to limit the arms that I may have, while placing no limitation on the arms that government has, places all of the power in the hands of government. As I said, how progressive of you.

Hi enigma.. I'd say your characterization is an oversimplification of an admittedly challenging question. But, here ya go.. simply because you claim to have had military and police training isn't a complete enough question. Were you discharged dishonorably from the military? Assuming the answer is no, I think what you are actually saying is, do I think you need an AR 15, complete with 30 round magazines? Nope.. I do not. I am glad we a have trained professional police and military force.. I think that people have a right to own guns, I own many. I think if everyone in the movie theatre in Aurora had guns, as wayne lapierre suggested, I think mass carnage would have ensued as all people would have seen is random people holding guns and many more people would have been shot. But, I am preparing to watch Klown and must go... its a foreign film complete with subtitles.

Buff," thank god we have trained good guys with guns to handle such a thing.. in the form of our poilce and our military."

Since I have both police and military training, then you will be fine with me walking down the street carrying whatever weapon I choose? I'm one the of the good guys, so you would be fine with me having an AR-15 with multiple 30 round mags? Or do you think that because I am no longer in the military or law enforcement that I am now some kind of demented killer? Has it come down to that; the police are good and everyone else is bad? What kind of sick twisted mind believes that? Think about this for a minute. If you were being viciously attacked and the police were 5-10 minutes away, wouldn't it be nice to have a civilian good guy with a gun nearby?

Francine you are pathetic. You complain about Shams posts and how he/she treats others and then post someone's name and address, call them a drunk, drag in their family, and bring up their past (for which he was acquitted, by the way). You have no proof Sham and John are the same person. You're as cowardly as the person who brought Ritty's past to a discussion.

I find that the right wing has a very destructive ideology. 'I am afraid, I'm not doing that' ideology.

More hate Mr. whatever-you-are. And, I do not go on name calling rants- must just be the echos in your head. Hateful accusations cannot defeat the facts. I agree I've made some errors and inaccuracies in the past, but I've always tried to learn from my mistakes; unlike some other people driven by their destructive left-wing ideology. Destructive = control and dependency. Two words antithetical to freedom!

You know I've noticed the other six days of the week seem to be just fine for you to go on name calling rants, so allow me to take this opportunity to invite you to go jump off a bridge Mr. Sunday christian.

Good morning all.. I personally think the comment, until mankind turns back to god, is the utterly ridiculous part.. Just an observation, in the wake of Newtown CT, and given the fact that the 6 month anniversary was just a day of two ago, I reminded of one of Wayne Lapierre's many claims.. he stated, the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.. to which I thought, thank god we have trained good guys with guns to handle such a thing.. in the form of our poilce and our military. H'azak!

More hate and name calling from sham, a little TMI from Francine, and just anger, anger all around. Would love to see all of you at Faith church in Montoursville this morning or most any other church. Regardless of your faith, or lack of, lets keep Sunday "civil" please.

You take the position that so-called "assault weapons" only use is to kill mass quantities of people.

Right?

Don't forget about banana peels. It's entirely plausible that carelessly discarded banana peels could cause injury.

We must ignore mass shooting after mass shooting and focus instead on the potential danger of ordinary household objects.

This letter does not help those who staunchly defend the Second Amendment it just makes them sound crazier.

"Let's face it, until mankind turns back to God and respect the way he tells us how to conduct our lives and treat our fellow human beings, the violence will continue no matter what form it comes in. No legislation or law is going to stop violence, that can only come from the heart of each and everyone of us!" - Jimmy Moore

It's a "little" late, for all that.

According to NRA/T-Bagger mythology (too-often accepted as documented-history)...our Founding Fathers, as "agents" for "God", had determined that our firearms-industry should have a Divine Right to maximum-profits.

Granted...it's "kind" of a mixed-message, but that's the way "beliefs" work.

"make it law that any person purchasing kitchen/eating utensils register those utensils just in case one of them is used to injure or kill another person"

Yes! Because kitchen utensils are only used to kill. They serve no other legitimate use in our society. I'm not sure why they're referred to as "kitchen utensils" to start with. They should be called "killing utensils".

Why just the other week, I heard of somebody walking into a McDonalds with a spoon, and killing 26 people with it.

Right Jimmy?
