A while back, a letter stated, “If you don’t want an abortion, don’t get one.” Fair enough in the mind of the author, but look at the real facts on abortion. Recently a Philadelphia Dr....

So you're suggesting more Caucasians collect welfare Spike? Is that a fact or an opinion? If it's an opinion then I'm compelled to most definitely disagree with it. If it's a fact, if you're basing it on recent, factual data, that's a different story. But I'd virtually guarantee that the statement I made is accurate for Williamsport with 100% certainty. Yes, Williamsport is only one small place, and what we're talking about is on a much larger scale.

Actually what the report says is that the death rate among Caucasians has risen higher than the birth rate. It does not state that it is trend nor is it irreversible.

Hic**** - no as to non-caucasians on assistance, in drug and alcohol treatment, food stamps, etc. Percentage per capita within race yes. Gross amount goes to Caucasians.

Francine I already said I was not offended, I understood where it coming from. It was miscommunication from both sides. But thank you for the apology even though I found it unnecessary. I had read the same report but must have found a more detail one because it does deal other mitigating factors for the decline.

Income levels, economy, education levels, Immigration levels, contraceptive use and more. Having no abortions is not going to increase the birth rate of Caucasians all that much. I think that the report is more likely to be very racist or to be taken that way.

Mr. Zook I think you should quit being such a hypocrite.

Also, in reference to the Causian Abortion Rate. That's probably true. I could be wrong but I think if someone did the research you'd find it's also true that more "minority races" are collecting Welfare than Caucasians. The more kids you have, the more welfare you can collect. Just saying.

Listen, I am not concerned with who my following statement offends and who it does not.

Getting an abortion is wrong outside of extreme medical situations. Using it as a birth control method is wrong. Don't think so? Too bad, you're wrong! I'm so sick of seeing all these 13, 14, & 15 year olds walking around with kids. YOURE STILL A KID. Parents are in large part responsible for it. Letting their kids do whatever they want, with who ever they want because "it's the cool thing to do". Not one of these kids is mature enough to handle that kind of responsibility and many of them grow up to display exactly that. Abortion, all too often, is a 'way out' for people who thought it was cool to have unprotected sex. If you use Abortion as a birth Control Method, you should be sentenced to prison for 1st Degree Murder.

If you're one of those using it as a birth control method, you're a sorry excuse for a human being and aren't deserving of your own life either.

"This is the way I look back on previous generations concerning slavery, segregation and putting American Japanese in camps, etc. What were we thinking?" --John W. Leisenring

The answer is popular opinion, what's in vogue now. It is a subjective morality that is a result of an individuals desires or circumstances. For many, it is a convenience that takes away a problem.

"In his book "The New Absolutes," William Watkins says the old absolute on life is: "Human life from conception to natural death is sacred and worthy of protection."

On the other hand, the new absolute of today is: "Human life begins and ends when certain individuals or groups decide it does, and is valuable as long as it is wanted.""

It pits the moral law that values and insists that the woman can make a choice about her body and future against the moral law that says the unborn-the weak need to be protected and defended by society.

Spike2, I did several google searches but didn't find an easy source. I finally googled the following search string "abortion statistics by race 2012"

One of the hits provided the paragraph that I provided (cut/paste without footnotes) and it had a reference of multiple websites, I.e. census dot gov, CDC dot gov, and guttmacher institute and from a couple of years. I would not consider the numbers as precise but probably close. And yes, the Caucasian non-Hispanic numbers are probably all races except for Hispanic and black.

I take no pride of ownership in these number so if you find something better, please offer it up.

I think it is important that people differentiate between absolute numbers and percentages when they make the comments and claims that the do.

It appears that our 'pro-choice' friends are so soft skinned that if you point out that abortion is killing a baby, they have your post removed. Doesn't that tell you something about how weak the pro-abortion argument is?

CMReeder-"Why thank you Mike! Nice to know you are still stooping."

Chuck, I apologize. I only saw her 7:33 post where she was questioning how you would know about raising children, I didn't see the 9:05 post where she said you didn't work and was a drunk. You certainly were wronged by Francine's post and by my subsequent post. For my part I apologize.

Texas - 29% (roughly) of the population? Statistics are outdated or incorrect unless Native American, Pacific Islander, Asian and other add up to an additional 30%.

Hold on here! Francine has every right to say what she thinks and I am not offended by her remarks.

It should also be noted that a repressive economy makes couples less likely to have more children. They will be more incline not to add to the family unit.

If a wacko didn't like Chuck at all (I do, it's wonderful to hear the other side) and something terrible happened and he died, wouldn't the extreme Left (Nancy Polosi and others) say that that would be a late-term abortion? Just askin'.......

"Lest you feel these claims are an exaggeration, consider the numbers. According to 2010 census data, African Americans make up 12.6% of the U.S. population but the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that black women accounted for 35.4% of all abortions in 2009. The Guttmacher Institute (AGI) puts the percentage of black abortions at 30% of the U.S. total. Their most recent numbers are from 2008. Similarly, AGI tells us that Hispanic women5 accounted for 25% of all U.S. abortions in 2008, though Hispanics make up just 16.3% of the U.S. population. The CDC lists the percentage of Hispanic abortions at 20.6%. Compare those numbers to non-Hispanic whites, who make up 63.7% of America's population, but account for only 36% of all U.S. abortions (37.7% according to the CDC)."

I'm personally against abortion so that our future generations may have a better choice than Romney or Obama for president. 300 million people in this country and we were stuck with that choice. Who knows how many fine presidential candidates, engineers, doctors, scientists, etc.. may have been aborted in the past. You laugh but none of us will ever know.. when a young person die, we grieve and say how much potential the person had. Imagine the potential of the millions that have been aborted.

I totally support debating someone's position on a stated opinion but making direct attacks on a person without knowing the story of their life is pretty low. I believe Francine's comments to Mr. Reeder were unwarranted to the discussion. Be you right or left, the personal attacks get us nowhere. Discussions here would be more beneficial if they were merely statements of opinions without the personal attacks.
