Abortion

June 16, 2013

A while back, a letter stated, “If you don’t want an abortion, don’t get one.” Fair enough in the mind of the author, but look at the real facts on abortion. Recently a Philadelphia Dr....

Dr Golden???

I'm firmly planted in the Pro-Life camp, but can we at least get the facts straight?

I support personal responsibility BEFORE the need for an abortion for men and women.

"I read somewhere that most abortions are performed on Caucasian woman. I have no idea if that's true. But if it is, might that not help to account for the Caucasians dramatically lower birth rate over the last 30 years when compared to other races?" - Francine

*

...And, that's (somehow) a "problem"...that's what you're suggesting??

I thought the letter was going to present facts on abortion. There was no facts in this letter just the usual anti abortion rantings.

Well Francine a few weeks ago the people who are for choice were accused of being racist because of all the black babies we have been killing. Now it is Caucasians.

Women in general are delaying motherhood. They are also limiting the size of family and it is not because of abortion. Contraceptives play a large role in that development also. Let us not forget the import of immigration on adding to the population.

Good, for you. Unfortunately..."all-of-a-sudden"...people are living more-irresponsibly. For the first-time, in American-history, people are having unprotected/pre-marital S E X.

Fortunately...just-in-time (and, Special Thanks! to the marketplace)...those "evil"-scientists have stepped-up-to-the-plate and provided Plan B.

Mr. Shaman-"Good, for you. Unfortunately..."all-of-a-sudden"...people are living more-irresponsibly. For the first-time, in American-history, people are having unprotected/pre-marital S E X. "

What a dumb statement.Of course this has gone on forever. The difference being, now there is a plethora of birth control options available. Back in the day there wasn't.Why would anyone these days not protect themselves if they don't want kids? Why go through the physical and psycological/ emotional trauma of an abortion ( sometimes multiple times) if you can avoid it to begin with? It is available and free in many cases.

Mr. Barren! You had a child and therefore you are an expert. I don't think so. I listed several other mitigating factors as to the low birth rate in Caucasians but you ARE BLIND TO IT. It is all the abortions going to Caucasian women because you read it somewhere. No other race is having abortions.

Wow Francine, while I hardly EVER agree with Mr. Reeder, don't you think you're being a little harsh? No reason we can't all be civil here, even if we don't agree.

That was unnecessary, Francine.. might I suggest you familiarize yourself with the immortal words of Booker T. Washington? Either that or have a second cup of coffee..

I totally support debating someone's position on a stated opinion but making direct attacks on a person without knowing the story of their life is pretty low. I believe Francine's comments to Mr. Reeder were unwarranted to the discussion. Be you right or left, the personal attacks get us nowhere. Discussions here would be more beneficial if they were merely statements of opinions without the personal attacks.

I'm personally against abortion so that our future generations may have a better choice than Romney or Obama for president. 300 million people in this country and we were stuck with that choice. Who knows how many fine presidential candidates, engineers, doctors, scientists, etc.. may have been aborted in the past. You laugh but none of us will ever know.. when a young person die, we grieve and say how much potential the person had. Imagine the potential of the millions that have been aborted.

CitizenQ, maybe. But it sure makes for a lot more interesting reading than Chuck's usual "I know what you are but what am I" diatribe.

"Lest you feel these claims are an exaggeration, consider the numbers. According to 2010 census data, African Americans make up 12.6% of the U.S. population but the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that black women accounted for 35.4% of all abortions in 2009. The Guttmacher Institute (AGI) puts the percentage of black abortions at 30% of the U.S. total. Their most recent numbers are from 2008. Similarly, AGI tells us that Hispanic women5 accounted for 25% of all U.S. abortions in 2008, though Hispanics make up just 16.3% of the U.S. population. The CDC lists the percentage of Hispanic abortions at 20.6%. Compare those numbers to non-Hispanic whites, who make up 63.7% of America's population, but account for only 36% of all U.S. abortions (37.7% according to the CDC)."

If a wacko didn't like Chuck at all (I do, it's wonderful to hear the other side) and something terrible happened and he died, wouldn't the extreme Left (Nancy Polosi and others) say that that would be a late-term abortion? Just askin'.......

Hold on here! Francine has every right to say what she thinks and I am not offended by her remarks.

It should also be noted that a repressive economy makes couples less likely to have more children. They will be more incline not to add to the family unit.

Texas - 29% (roughly) of the population? Statistics are outdated or incorrect unless Native American, Pacific Islander, Asian and other add up to an additional 30%.
