June 20, 2013

It's been said that there is no greater freedom than that which is found in the presence of unspoiled nature....

Honor unspoiled nature, unless that means urban sprawl and housing developments where those who want to preserve the beauty of nature can live. Then lets go ahead and spoil it. NIMBY.

Conservation is the responsible use of resources.

Preservation is the foolish notion that resources should never be touched by man.

There are too many who support the latter.

Literate-people prefer Webster's "translation": 1. keep safe from injury, harm, or destruction - 2. keep alive, intact, or free from decay - 3. keep or save from decomposition - 4. keep up and reserve for personal or special use.

If you can't learn English, go back (to) where you came-from.

Mr. Yannucci,

Where does the electricity come from that lights up your home, where does the wood come from that was used to build your home, where does the gasoline come from to provide fuel for your car, and where does the food come from that you eat.

In all these things, some form of energy or materials are used that come from the earth and they come from someone's "backyard."

Francine: Sorry to spoil grateful feelings Mr. Yannucci, but unless people really start raising holy heck, the forest will get spoiled. People gotta start getting loud against this. Really loud.

I wish this same attitude and enthusiasm was used to speak out against our nations leaders for the shape of our country. The tea party tried and was made a mockery of by many. Until the American people band together and drop the narrow minded thinking along party lines nothing will get done. I'm happy to see people band together for the sake of the environment. But what about all the other major issues facing this country?

Sorry but the Tea Party makes a mockery of itself.

I agree with Francine it is the process that has people upset, not the byproduct and it's use.

A report is out that in Alberta, Canada a leak occured that went unchecked and disclosed for 11 days and then the officials had the gall to say it was harmless even though it killed trees in the spill which covered around 100 acres. They don't repair, they don't update, they don't correct leaky pipes that transfer oil drilling waste or the byproduct they drill for.

I went to see Gasland II last night, and the videos and information in that movie is incredible. I learned a ton of information. For example, gaseous methane is visible on a FLIR (Forward looking Infrared) camera. You should see video of methane leaks on well pads. I also learned that energy companies are fracking the San Andeas fault right in the middle of LA, I also learned that between 5% and 10% of all gas well casings are cracked from the start.

You've quite-obviously overlooked to convenience of maintaining the Status Quo...more-commonly-referred-to as "traditional-values"...that "magic"-phrase that absolves the most-lazy (of our population) from ANY efforts that require actual work/creativity.

I've always been a bit on the fence about gas drilling, and after watching the movie last night it's safe to say I'm off the fence. I would now support the implementation of an all out fracking ban in PA. Not a "moratorium", a ban.

'Sorry but the Tea Party makes a mockery of itself.'

And just how do they do that Chuck? By standing up for individual rights, the 2nd Amendment, and low taxes? You're a great one for condemning but never offer anything useful in return.

Well Steeler how about masturbating male fetuses. Grover Norquist is a Muslim because he has a beard. The endless things that the Tea Party stands for leads to it's mockery. They do it to themselves. They have become a very bad joke played on the American people.

My only comment here is going to touch on my feelings about the Gas Industry and "Gasland II". I did not see it so I don't know what was in it, however based on what I've heard it's quite revealing.

Here's my feelings on the subject; It's really hard for individuals in the gas industry to turn away from it and I'm not talking about those who actually own and operate the companies, I'm talking about the hourly employees. Right or wrong, the gas industry presents an opportunity to indivduals to provide better for their families financially. Doe the Gas Industry have negative results on the community? Absolutely, landlords have been jacking up rates ever since the Industries arrived.

However, that isn't the fault of the employees who work for them. I can't fault these individuals and frankly, I soon may become one of them. This area seriously lacks in quality paying jobs. The Gas Industry provides that to say the least. It presents the opporunity to individuals to mo

of the realm of poverty and into a better life. It's fair to say is the cost on the environment worth it. It's a fair question, one I can't personally answer with any type of certainty. But again, those who work for the Industry I'm sure tend to ignore the effects the industry has on the environment because they are working in the industry to provide better for their families. They are doing what they feel is in their families best interest.

pinecr, you are right. It is a lot of "show me the money", but in an age where money is becoming hard to come by as is quality jobs, I can't place blame on those individuals. Being able to say no to an opportunity that nets you more financially stability, has become a luxury some of us no longer have.

Tea Party is now attacking the very people they elected into office.

A woman who was a former beauty contestant and is Running for office as a GOP candidate in IL has been attacked by the Chairman of the GOP in IL as a streetwalker. Why, because she did not toe the ultra conservative line.

GOP leaders are worry they will have a tougher time in 2016 because of the hardliners within the party and keeep pushing for candidates that only appeal to the hardline conservative base alienating minorities, moderates, independents and mostly women. The Tea party and the ultra conservatives are deeply hurting the GOP.
