Waiting for the hand wringing and accusation ridden response from Rep. Mirabito on this "waste of taxpayer money". After all "we" (he) the "taxpayers" should have a say on how "we" (he) spend(s) the money. That money could have been used for example to patch and pave the road in front of the Rowley House to repair all that wear and tear caused by out of town motor coach tourists who visit there. A commemorative sign could be placed to indicate that the road improvement was courtesy of Rep. Mirrabito and his diligent efforts to redirect hotel tax funds from wasteful and dubious "tourism" to whatever "we" (he) finds is more practical, necessary, needed, etc.

Unless you spend time in the local hotels/motels, you don't pay this tax.

As for the so-called grants, they are not from your tax dollars, but from the Lycoming County Visitors Bureau, which gets the money from the room tax at the hotels/motels. About 15 percent of the money raised from Lycoming County's hotel room tax is used for a grants program to help local organizations promote events and attractions.

Why do people write LTEs when they don't bother to learn the facts first? Makes them look like idiots.
