So, one movie is sponsored by those who hate the oil & gas industry while the other is sponsored by those who favor the oil & gas industry.

But, like a true liberal, they try to tell us how one is bad and the other is good.

The anti-energy crowd would serve its interests better if it STOPPED LYING!!!

But, then, they would have little to complain about.

That is the same thing I thought Erik.

The letter writer is just another NIMBY.

Erik - give up. A smaller percentage supports the gas industry than the number who oppose in this area. You are beating a dead horse. Everyone knows your paycheck is written by a company who benefits from the industry. We understand your company loyalty but most of us do not believe you.

It never ceases to amaze me how the anti energy crowd wants everything energy brings to our lives but doesn't want the extraction process. If you want to see what these sites will look like, check out the one in Farragut at the corner of 87 and 864. Just a pipe in the middle of the field surrounded by corn stalks. Pretty innocuous.

So I guess all of those violations and fines imposed against the gas industry by the DEP were also lies?

In 2006 Range Resources explained to potential investors the "risks of hydro-fracturing" including well blowouts, explosions, uncontrollable flows of oil, natural gas or well fluids, fires, pipe ruptures or spills, pollution, releases of toxic natural gas and environmental hazards and risks, so I guess Range is also lying about the dangers.

Every new technology has its "Responsible Drilling Alliance". Electricity, radio, cell phone to name a few, all had their alarmists. One that was close to home was the extremely vocal anti-nuclear groups that "informed" us of all the problems we would suffer when PPL built the Berwick nuclear plant 40 years ago!

I am sure that in 40 more years, when some new technology comes around a new "Responsible ???? Alliance" will be there to protect us from nothing!

"But, like a true liberal, they try to tell us how one is bad and the other is good." "But, like a true conservative, they try to tell us how one is bad and the other is good."

I get so confused sometimes.

If this issue were to be argued on the basis of facts and science instead of emotion, there would be no argument. Facts are facts no matter who presents them. When facts aren’t on your side attacking the source or messenger is all that’s left.

What we have here is the environmental extremists teaming up with anti-capitalists and the NIMBY folks.

Yes, there are dangers.

Risk is part of every industry.

Your point is childish.

" now join a group with a worthy cause and do litter clean up"

I believe that's what RDA is doing. They're trying to clean up our area of all the Texans and Oklahomans littering our area, that have come here to make money, and don't care what mystery sauce they pump into PA's watershed.

Would this even be as issue at all if we were talking about visibly polluted toxic air that everyone could see by looking out a window, or stepping outside? Doubt it.

I agree Phil and that's why I stay on neutral ground. I've read the facts on both sides and I've made my own conclusions. But, I live in a home where I am enjoying a natural gas fuel source that is cleaning burning and currently very economical and I'm not going to be a hypocrite/NIMBY.

I would be curious to know how many of the 75% in this area that are so against the industry heat their homes with natural gas. In my opinion, either switch to another source that doesn't involve gas or oil or rein it in because you're talking out both sides of your mouth. And that includes electric heat because those nasty coal burning power plants are killing the environment. I don't see too many windmills scattered around Williamsport. Just sayin

Thank you phil.

The comment was made that the anti-energy crowd would serve its interests better if it "STOPPED LYING", and the same thing they are being accused of is being said by the DEP and Range Resources, so who is lying? That's what I wanted to know.

Nobud74, you need to come to Bradford or Tioga counties. I have seen no gas well sites that have grown back and it as been five years. I still see at least 2-3 acres of mud around the site and big ponds with fences around them. I choose to live in the country and now I hear the compression station that is about three miles away.

I see a couple people disagreed with my last statements regarding hypocrites that take advantage of the industry as long as its not here in Williamsport. I don't seem to recall any letters to the Sun Gazette before the industry came here and I'm quite sure some of those in the 75% group use gas or oil to heat their homes. So send them back to Texas or wherever else they came from and just pipe it to me from there. I have no problem with those that are true to their cause and don't turn around and use the very same resource they lobby against. But I have a big problem with NIMBY's.

Gunney, if you say anything even remotely positive about the gas industry on these boards, you will get disagrees.

Gavin, I have said on here in other comments that I have no problem with those that feel strongly about their convictions and take a stand. I have my own opinions on this subject. But I'm man enough to admit it would be awful hypocritical of me to speak out against the industry when I take full advantage of the resource it provides. I would have a tough time standing at a demonstration holding signs telling the industry to go back to Texas and then go home and kick back on my couch and turn up the gas heat or shower with the hot water that is heated with gas. Sorry, maybe that's just me.

Just like when you say anything remotely liberal. A lot of disagrees.
