"" with the touch screen voting machines; could they be tampered with?"

It's been demonstrated that they can be hacked with a laptop in under 5 minutes.

" Do they all leave a hard copy for authentication?"

Almost none of them do. None do in PA to my knowledge. No paper trail, no recount. Fortunately, we all know that computers never make mistakes."

My eyes don't believe what I'm reading! Did I just understand Chris to admit to the "machine" of politics counting might have vulnerabilities?

Good letter, Marjorie. In its day, voting counted. This isn't the day anymore.

"The main problem with our elections is that whichever candidate wins, he’s always a politician. "

Then what should they be, a ditch digger.

"Personally, I’m glad that if people aren’t inclined to become knowledgeable about the issues and the contenders, they don’t bother to vote."

Of course you do, too much would be revealed.

Yes my comment is necessary because Eric is wrong because as he does with everything he does with a political bias. He has on more than one occassion said that Democratic party voters are uneducated. As matter of fact many on the right say they are too emotional to vote. People do not feel vested in the voting process.

My only concern is that with the touch screen voting machines; could they be tampered with? Do they all leave a hard copy for authentication? Regardless, the voting system has been corrupted for a long time with politicians who make it easy to "con" the system.

Mr. Reeder was that comment really necessary? I happen to agree with Erik that it's the responsibility of the people to educate themselves about the issues and the people they are voting for. Anyone can cast a vote, sadly too many cast uneducated votes. And if you are relying on the media talking heads to get your education, it is still an uneducated vote in my opinion.

Voting is only one part of a healthy representative republic.

Educated voters is another.
