...And, 2024 (when Republicans MIGHT have another shot, at the Whitehouse) is farther-away, yet!!

The slogan "change" worked because they convinced enough people it was so horrible under Bush43.

Little did they know that the real change would be an expansion of the surveillence state, more wars, a weaker economy and turmoil throughout the world.

Erik, I agree. This country would have voted for anyone other than a "Bush like" president, so the republicans were doomed from the start. I personally would have rather seen Mrs. Clinton in there rather than Obama because I truly feel Obama is nothing more than a puppet for the Democratic party. I think Mrs. Clinton would be a much stronger leader of this nation, and like her husband, I believe she would have had the knowledge to know the importance of working with the other side of the aisle.

i am a republican and i hope the democrats get the white house next election. So Shaman and Reeder you dont have to try to rub it in anymore. I figure that if the democrats have the white house long enough things will be sooooooooo screwed up that they may never get the white house ever again. How's that for a strategy? My only hope and prayer is that we actually have a country left when the LEFT gets done with it with all of the social giveaways and printing of money ect.... the list is too big for here. I believe our forefathers are rolling over in the grave right now seeing what we have become. Have fun with it while you can.

As long as over 50% of the voting sheeple think the Libs are doing a good job, we will get more of the same. I do agree with Gunny that Hillary would be better than what we have now, but not by much.

Mr. Paternostro... no where did I state that I would have personally voted for Mrs. Clinton. What I did say is President Bush poisoned the Republican Party and people would have voted for anyone rather than vote in a "Bush like" candidate like McCain. That being said I would have much rather seen Mrs. Clinton win than President Obama.

The Libs and the media (same) painted Bush as the most incompetent President ever. Compared to BHO, he was a genius, except at the end. The media is actually part of the Democratic party and will not give BHO the anal exam and objective reporting required by fair minded people.

"The recession-deniers were muzzled by a horrendous last two weeks of December, and the gloom-and-doomers are now out in force. Their key arguments:

* Plummeting housing will now drag down the rest of the economy.

*The "bad debt" problem is not just "sub-prime" folks who should never have have taken out mortgages in the first place. It includes credit card debt, "high quality" mortgages, car loans, and other leverage that have recently become a consumer way of life.

*Pressure on consumers is leading to a reduction in consumer spending (70% of economy), which, in turn, will lead to a reduction in spending by companies that sell stuff to consumers.

*The question now is not "will there be a recession?" but "how bad will it get?"

*The most optimistic forecasts in a NYT gloom-a

*The most optimistic forecasts in a NYT gloom-and-doom round-up are for three crappy quarters, regardless of what the Fed does. Less optimistic forecasts suggest that we are, well, screwed.

After blowing the last downturn, we've been worried this one since last summer. We also suspect that, given the importance of housing to the economy and debt to consumer spending, the recession will be deeper and more prolonged than people think."

I'm guessing you're too-young to remember '92 (mostly, from your punctuation). That's the SAME thing Republicans assumed, after Bill Clinton WHUPPED Daddy Bush's rump...that Bill Clinton would NEVER correct Daddy Bush's economic-debacle...and, Republicans would waltz, right-back-in, in '96!!!

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess you'd need to be old-enough to have remembered that.

What would they do with it if reelected?

More secret laws, secret courts and secret prisons?

Which laws will the next Democratic president just choose not to enforce?

Maybe the NEXT Democratic president will close Guantanamo.

What's the point of holding the presidency if you're going to toss to the curb your ideals?

What's the point of having a 33 seat majority in the House of Representatives only to do nothing with it.

Seriously, why bother.

Sham-

Do you defend the administrations repeated decision to pick and choose which laws it will enforce?

What next, judges refusing to enforce the guilty verdicts of laws they disagree with?

We are watching the unraveling law and order right before our very eyes.
