I agree that the USPS service is one of the last true bargains we have! Imagine--someone will pick up your letter right at your door (or thereabouts), get it to your correspondent in Michigan or Texas or California or even Jersey Shore, and deliver it to their door all for 46 cents. How many of you would be willing to deliver a letter across town for 46 cents let alone across the country?

Of course if it upsets you that it takes 3 or 4 days or even a week for your 46 cent investment to get to the addressee, you could always spend a few hundred dollars and drive 24 hrs a day to get it to California or Texas or Michigan in 2 or 3 days and hand deliver it yourself.
