The region’s mindset

James Carville was wrong when he once described Pennsylvania, due to the right wing mentality of the people in the central portion of the state, as being “Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with Alabama in......

Anyone remember these two old, old sayings from back in the 50's?

"He has diarrhea of the mouth..."

Or,

"He was vaccinated with a phonograph needle..."

Sham brought them to mind!!!!

Hello gunny... I have not had the pleasure of chatting with you recently, I hope you and your loved ones are well. I'm writing 8:00 am, it seems we have something in common. I've just recently moved home as well, to Tioga County, to help care for my mom. She is 74 and in fair health but her arthritis and diabetes are challenges to her independence. I have the utmost respect for others who share this in their lives and I salute you, sir, for your character. Your parents are indeed fortunate in this regard..

Thank you.

Your snobbery and elitism are duly noted, idiot.

Carville was responsible for helping to elect one of the biggest SHISTERS, LIARS AND WOMANIZERS we've ever had the displeasure of having to ENDURE. (That "best economy this country has ever seen" was, unfortunately for all of us, just tricky bookkeeping and slickness.)

You COULD have said "those people"...rather-than "the ever increasing lazy Obama supporters that live off the government".

No I said it exactly how it means and I am in no way a bigot. I'm a realist and the fact is the number of people going on the government dole is increasing today more than any time in history. And there is no end in sight. And yes, MANY of them are LAZY Obama supporters, that want to see nothing more than a democrat in office so they can continue to*****the government t e a t.

Don't you all get sick of having the same argument over and over. No matter what the letter, the comments always turn into left vs. right. Heck, Stephanie Crayton could post something about bigfoot's ruining her sidewalks and it would somehow turn into "liberals think bigfoot should receive welfare" vs "conservatives think he should have the right to bear arms". No one is ever going to change anyone's mind. What's the point? You can't get entertainment out of this.

I've known...and, HEARD...TOO-many people, here (actually) BRAG about being "ignorant-White-trash". Somehow, they manage to see some kind o' humor, in that. Most-often (from what I've seen), it's their veiled-reference to their preference for laziness.

Mr. Shaman I also have heard many brag about the fact that they are living off the government. I would rather see hard working "white trash" than the ever increasing lazy Obama supporters that live off the government." - GysgtUSMC

It would have saved space...and, I've never doubted your bigotry, anyhow.

As-far-as "rather see(ing) hard working "white trash" goes...it could take (nearly) forEVER to accomplish THAT.

"I spent MANY years living in ALABAMA. Loved going to the "Cathouses" (jokenly called) for dinner. The food was served family style and included platters of batter dipped and fried catfish, fried taters, hushpuppies, and a veggie (corn on the cob when available).

Then there is the PIT BBQ! Beef and pork roasts buried in a pit full of wet hickory wood and cooked all night. If someone would open a restaurant in this area that sold honest-to-goodness REAL pit BBQ, they would make a fortune.

I make the best hushpups and corn bread you will find outside of Alabama!

My oldest son lives there, as well as many relatives." - USABorn

Your understanding that military members are just locked on base, fed and housed and told what to do in every facet of their life is just not true. Many have experienced more in life than many could only dream about. You may want to rethink your position of not taking advice from a military man/woman. They are much wiser than you give them credit for.

I (just) don't have a whole-lotta-patience for people trying to instruct me on the "real" World (Life, in-GENERAL), when they've spent so much time ISOLATED from every-day trials-and-tribulations.

Mr. Shaman I'll take you total lack of understanding of military life as an excuse for some of the things you say. If anyone knows about the real world and the trials and tribulations of real life, it is the young men and women in the military. I have traveled around the country and world and have experienced more in life than many will ever have a chance to experience. I have lived amongst the locals in foreign countries learning their culture and all they had to offer. I had to endure hardships such as long separation from family and my children in order to complete the mission. During this time I also owned 3 homes and raised a family. Your understanding that military members are just locked on base, fed and housed and told what to do in every facet of their life is just not t

It's MUCH-more a consensual-relationship, than that.

You can meet TOO-many people, in this town, that have NO INTEREST in goings-on, outside this town.

Sham: "It's got nothing-to-do with those who'd "served". It's MORE about people who'd been provided housing, clothing, food...AND, a check...trying to tell ME about the "real" World."

The Liberal champion Sham is now down on his cause. Now he hates all people who the government supplies housing, food, clothing and money to." - Premier

No...I don't hate anyone. That's another (over-used) "conservative"-fave...much like "evil" (and, other such fairy-tale concepts).

I (just) don't have a whole-lotta-patience for people trying to instruct me on the "real" World (Life, in-GENERAL), when they've spent so much time ISOLATED from every-day trials-and-tribulations.

I don't try to instruct military-folks on surviving their chain-o'-command, and I'd expect equal-consideration, from them.

It's the old story o' being the eldest-child...with a Mother "gettin'-up, in her years".

Mr. Shaman, imagine that, we have something in common. While I am not the oldest child, I am the only single child and I too moved back to the area to help care for my elderly parents. While you seem to hold a lot of bitterness, I can only think you have kindness in your heart because you were willing to give up the life you had to return home to care for your mother. For that my friend, I respect you.
