Driver warnings

July 19, 2013

The police officers of Williamsport could have their catch when driving down the alleys of this town! Rolling stops are all too prevalent; if I could go one day without seeing one it would be a luck......

And for many of the reasons offered here, if stop signs and "no right on red" are not heeded by all...along with the well-known 4 or 5 cars speeding through yellow lights and a myriad of other ignored signage, why don't we do away with all laws and regs as regards traffic control. Tear down all the signs and lights...imagine the savings that PennDOT would reap for infrastructure improvement. We already have those signs and lights to instruct drivers, but they are mostly ignored. Why not remove them and let everybody make up their own set of do's and don't's. Everybody knows the cops around here don't pay any attention to enforcing these infractions anyway... except during the weekend DUI sweeps after dark when the big money makes it worthwhile.

I never stop fully if I don't have to. And if there's a "no turn on red" sign for no obvious reason, I turn. And I almost always go a little over the posted speed limits. I am also very tolerant of those who wish to follow the letter of these laws.

After watching the latest Kmart commercial it's clear we need to worry about more for our children then running stop signs clearly a out right anti-white commercial

Gys, I hear you and it's something I'd agree, I should be more aware of and actually come to a complete stop. I don't have a problem with that, but really, is there anyone out there that can 100% suggest they don't do it? I doubt it, so to write a LTE about it... It's not really something I would have done but to each their own.

Well we all better beware because once this transportation bill passes thru the state legislature, all moving violations will have an additional 100.00 tacked on to the fine.

Billtown, I couldn't agree more. You see his anger and hate in everything he posts. Heck he even lashes out at liberals on here.

I guarantee the author of this letter is as guilty as the people he wrote it about.

FYI, 75% of the Alleys in Montoursville fo example, don't even have stop signs, it's similar here.

I COMPLETELY understand the 'implication' is to stop and the law requires you to, but my point is simply that there is no posting. I am willing to admit I don't always come to a complete stop, but I do go slow enough to the point where, if anyone is coming or there is traffic, I can stop in a milisecond and without harm to anyone or anything, I'm talking like 2 mph. I always, personally, look out for kids and other vehicles. If no one is around and no cars are coming, imo, a 'rolling stop' is a non-issue.

@ Sham: I've been reading this message board for years, and I've been able to assess which of the regular posters are expressing simple frustration, an opinion based on fact, gossip,or simply conveying dissatisfaction with something or someone. However, in your one short post, you have clearly expressed, "IMHO", that there are also posters whom exhibit prime examples of precautionary and deep-seated emotional or mental issues. The "Black-hand" comment certainly was not in reference to the "Mano Nera". May I suggest, that you consider seeking counseling and in-so-doing, prepare yourself for a diagnosis of Frustration-aggression-displacement. Are you also prone to violence, attempts to scapegoat others? Aggression toward others when your frustration is challenged? Bottled-up frustration and anger through violence? There is help out there for you... PLEASE seek it out.

"You REALLY want to see that many Black-hands?????

I'm guessing, not."
