July 22, 2013

Beside and just below the American flag in many places can be seen the black and white POW/MIA banner....

Thank you MrShaman, sometimes when I read different articles on the Vietnam War they make me realize what kind of h e l l these men went thru for this country and then to just leave some there is unthinkable to me." - BornHere

Agreed...but...I remember reading, yeeeaaarrrs-ago, that...every conflict, where we've been involved, there have been more-than-a-few Americans who'd chosen to stay; whether outta-guilt, or whatever.

During (and, after) 'Nam, there were ALSO quite-a-few combat-vets who'd "returned" as far a Hawaii...and, decided...staying in the jungle-like areas, there, would have been much-more tolerable than returning to "the World".

"I'll tell you how messed up these people are they had my husband listed as a POW, we had no idea of this until he tried to get his benefits for disability for exposure to Agent Orange, then it took 3 months to fix the problem.

We need a system in place that will bring these men home and my husband still blames Nixon for this mess." - BornHere

We're (probably) around the same age, so you must (also) know all of the controversies surrounding this org. It's another o' those traditional-"battlefields", between the pro-Vietnam War & anti-War folks...and, has quite the history to reflect those times...up-to-and-including opinions that this org turned-into nothing more than a profit-making venture.

I completely agree. Our Soldiers DO deserve better, they do deserve to be brought home, alive or dead (hopefully alive) they deserve to brought back. Where it be to be with their family or finally be at peace. They deserve better. Any program that isn't capable of and willing to achieve this, should not exist and should be replaced with one that is.

"The Associated Press recently investigated the military's Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command and found it to be "woefully inept and even corrupt."

Is it POSSIBLE these efforts are AS "woefully inept and even corrupt" as the VA's "record"-keeping??!!!!
