Stepping back from the brink

July 25, 2013

Who are you kidding? It was blackmail. Do what I want or I'll change the rules! Sen. Reid should be arrested and the Republicans who caved should not be re-elected....

I'm still waiting for Mr. Hinman to write in and clarify what topic he is actually referring to. I see a few different theories posted here, but I'm guessing none of us are mind readers.

Yes, and Bush should have been arrested as a war criminal. All stupid crap aka politics. It works (or doesn't work) both ways.

Filibuster is a power that has greatly been abused by the minority in the Senate. This is not the first time that the rules of filibuster has been revisited and discussed by the Senate and by the look of it, it will no be the last time either.

Thanks Reeder... now just to be clear..

"Reid said he had recently spoken with Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and President Obama to review their options, and then issued his ultimatum to Republicans: stop your relentless filibusters or the Democratic majority will strip away your power to do so."

This strikes me as rather amusing seeing as both sides of the aisle have used this practice in the past. I actually think the practice failed in a couple of instances and one that comes to mind is the appointment of Holder.

Bobbie, do you really have to be gross and disgusting in every post? I would love to read the history in your laptop. You really like this self-licking concept. Why not just make a comment. I truly feel sorry for any party or cause that you align with. Reeder is right on this one folks, it's the "nuclear option".

For the so called politically aware here, he is referring to the 'nuclear option' threat against the filibuster rule in the Senate by Reid against the obstructionism of the GOP on every nominee by the President.

Actually I think he may be talking about the senate immigration reform (free amnesty for millions) bill, and if he is, I agree.

"Mr. Hinman is clearly new to the concept of political awareness." - VinceKnauff

If (actually) making reference to some specific-issue is included in "political awareness", I'd agree.

If Mr. Hinman was referring-to voter-ID...he needs to be reminded Harry Reid ISN'T a Republican.

Mr. Hinman is clearly new to the concept of political awareness. I hope this revelation is one that leads him to more political truths. And to the ballot box next time.
