Message from Antonio

July 28, 2013

You won't recognize me. My name was Antonio West and I was the 13-month old child who was shot at point blank range by two teens who were attempting to rob my mother, who was also shot....

"And where did I say that Martin was wearing a ski mask?"

You said, and I quote:

"If I walked into a bank wearing a hoodie and a ski mask with my hand in my pocket should I be upset if the security guard profiles me as someone suspicious?"

Are you saying that for some mysterious reason that there is a higher bar for someone to consider you suspicious that Trayvon Martin, or are you saying he was wearing a ski mask on the night he was murdered?

Which is it?

"From January 1, 2011 through February 26, 2012, police were called to The Retreat at Twin Lakes 402 times. Crimes committed at The Retreat in the year prior to Martin's death had included eight burglaries, nine thefts, and one shooting. Twin Lakes residents said there were dozens of reports of attempted break-ins, which had created an atmosphere of fear in their neighborhood. During the six months leading up to the February 26, 2012 shooting, Zimmerman called the non-emergency police telephone line seven times. On five of those calls Zimmerman reported suspicious looking men in the area, but never offered the men's race without first being asked by the dispatcher.

Knowing these facts, if I was neighborhood watch I would have kept an eye on him to regardless of his race.

CHayes-"So now Trayvon Martin was wearing a ski mask the night he was murdered"

And where did I say that Martin was wearing a ski mask? The constant straw-man arguments and suppositions from your ide are getting tiresome.

Mr. Considine, I was speaking to CHayes. And CHayes, I would presume that you don't live in a bad neighborhhod, which is why you haven't been scrutinized in a public place wearing a hoody. Again, I ask that you get the details of the Zimmerman case, along with the text of the Stand Your Ground law, before passing judgment or making statements based on internet drivel.

"Yet you have a member of the jury that says Zimmerman committed murder but they had to rule according to the FL laws in this case." - CMReeder

1 juror out of six does not bring a conviction. Instead, this juror voted not guilty. What she says now is irrelevant.

The bottom line, in my opinion, is that the system worked. Whatever we think about Zimmerman's motives, without proof, the jury must follow the law—and they did. The rule of law and due process must be followed.

If Zimmerman profiled Trayvon Martin because of race, then in the course of due process, it must be proved.

You know Mike, I personally wear hoodies a lot in fall, winter, and spring, often with the hood up when its cold and/or windy. I also often put my hand/hands in the pocket on the hoodie when they're cold. I'm certain I've walked into banks this way on more than one occasion, and yet I've never had anyone follow me inside a bank, or draw down on me.

Why you suppose that is?

" If I walked into a bank wearing a hoodie and a ski mask with my hand in my pocket should I be upset if the security guard profiles me as someone suspicious?"

So now Trayvon Martin was wearing a ski mask the night he was murdered?

I've seen pictures of the murdered child now, and he looks pretty sketchy. (you know...non white). I think it may be likely that the woman was just following the kid to make sure he was up to no good, then when she confronted him about it, the kid probably turned and attacked her. That may make the shooting justifiable.

Thanks Spike. I checked it out, and it seems to be looking more and more like what actually happened bears no resemblance to the copy/paste chain email. Go figure.

Not happy that the story didn't get enough coverage for your liking? If it keeps tracking the direction its going now, you'll be begging to hear about something else soon.

Gee, I wonder why this white woman would make up a story about black teens killing her infant?

Hey spike thanks for the update! It won't stop those who believed the letter.

uh-oh folks - the two teens did nothing and are being released. Wish I could post link. Mother and boyfriend responsible.Brunswick, Ga. resident Sherry West, 42, mother of baby Antonio Santiago slain on March 14, 2013, told CNN’s Piers Morgan she wants the alleged teen killers to die during an on-camera interview. “A life for a life,” she said.

De’Marquis Elkins, 17, and Dominique Lang, 15, were arrested and charged with murdering the 13-month-old. Their trial was set for this August but their public defender, Jonathan Lockwood, uncovered some shocking evidence.

She lied! The gunshot residue was found on both West and baby Antonio’s father, Louis, who was initially reported no where near the crime scene.

Back in March, West told police that while on her way home from the post office two black boys attempted to rob her. When she told them that she have any money, they shot baby Antonio in the face, then shot her in the leg before running away.

All fabricated. Google!

well said Mike.

The answer to your question is that for some people, if they don't have an issue like Race to stand on, they have no ground at all to stand on for their arguements, so immediately they form some sort of opinion that involves racism and why whatever has been done is absolutely an example of racism.

Sometimes it's the only thing some people know. People like Reeder, Lazy, and Sham for example.

There were a rash of burglaries in the neighborhood. A neighborhood watch guy sees someone he doesn't know and follows him. A confrontation ensues and the neighborhood watch guy shoots the other guy. The available evidence says the neighborhood watch guy did it in self defense.

Those crying foul say that Zimmerman profiled Martin and that it's a case of racism. Why is that?

If I walked into a bank wearing a hoodie and a ski mask with my hand in my pocket should I be upset if the security guard profiles me as someone suspicious?

The kids today, kids of all races and colors, idolize rap singers who glamorize gang bangers. So everyone is running around in hoodies, pants down to their knees and looking like gang members and then you all act like it's unreasonable to be suspicious of someone like that walking in your neighborhood that has had a crime spree.

I just don't get it.

First of all, I don't believe we will ever truly know what happened to Antonio. There's a lot of things that don't make sense about that case. This letter 'assumes the truth'.

Having said that, there is a very compelling and obvious point to this letter and that is why I don't have a problem with it.

Specifically I'm fine with it because the point here truly is that the 'severity and importance' of incidents seem to be decided based on the races involved, which race is the victim and which is the suspect, etc.

All human life should be equally cherished race should not be a factor in that.

As far as the short discussion about putting a 14 year old to death..I think that would be as horrific as the crime that was committed.

There isn't, for me, enough information available to make a judgement on this case, but I do know that this baby's life is every bit as important as the life of Trayvon Martin.

You mean the murdered baby that was all over the news, that the killers were caught, charged, and tried immediately following their heinous crime?

You mean the murdered infant that was that was mentioned in the "letter" from the right winger that was actually a direct copy/paste of a chain email? The "letter" that also mentioned the Trayvon Martin case?

How dare us "leftists", "divert the conversation" with a topic mentioned in the letter.

What's wrong with you?
