Commendations

July 31, 2013

I’d like to commend both Ida Temple on her letter (Was it racism) and Gregory L. Weigle on his letter (The trial) that was in the July 21 editio....

I think if the President were a true leader that wanted to help the citizens in any way that he could, he would go down to Detriot or Chicago or New Orleans and have a sit down with all of the black gang bangers that are constantly killing each other over who gets to sell drugs on which street corner and convince them to stop their violence. It might not stop the George Zimmerman's of the world from getting themselves into physical situations that they need to shot their way out of, but it would have a more meaningful impact on who this president represents.

Nice idea Tedeaux but do you really think it could ever happen? These gang members are lawless. They care about no one, not even thier families or themselves.Thier power is in thier weapons.Without thier weapons they are cowards. It would be difficult, if not impossible to change the mindset of these people.Rather than earn respect by living an honorable life they force respect via fear. It's alot less work.Eliminating thier drug customers would be more manageable via rehab. If the customers go away, they will have to move on.

Thank your "lucky-stars"...for a NEW-Generation of young-people, who recognize the hypocrisy/racism of "traditional-values"!!

If we'd seen a modicum of support, from the Yuppie-herd (that'd spent their lives, chasing one-trend-or-another), things wouldn't have gotten so outta-control...again.

Please. George Zimmerman was merely one, more "Barney Fife" who "bit-off, more than he could chew", and...UNlike Barney Fife...was too-much a coward to avoid murdering-his-way out of it.

Whichever police-department(s), that'd rejected his membership (for failing psychological-testing), can verify that.

Please Shammy, "George Zimmerman was merely one, more "Barney Fife" who "bit-off, more than he could chew" As you'd say - "He won, let it go". There was nothing that proved this case was anything but self-defense. If someone is skulking around my neighborhood who doesn't live there I'd be out there watching too, especially if there was a rash of crimes recently!

Unfortunately, Martin never had a gun TO defend himself.

Yeah...how "exciting" that would have been, for the John Wayne fans...a running gun-battle.

Big difference Shaman.Zimm used a gun as a last resort to defend himself, thugs use guns to indescriminately kill or maim. If you can't see that difference you're blind.

Another thing I'm getting tired of is mentally selective people like Sham using Zimmerman as the reason Neighborhood Watch Groups are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

That's just a stupid and ignorant statement to make and while you may not have made it in this particular thread, you've done so on others Sham.

We all know you're ignorant, you don't have to continually try to prove it.

If you knew half of what you think you knew, we might actually refer to you as a human being.

So I jump in to see what is going on and I see people still uninformed on the Zimmerman case. Obviously Sham and libs didn't watch the trial. They got their facts from NBC who edited the tape and that was all they needed. If you would have watched the trial and ALL the evidence, you also would know that there was little evidence to prove that it was anything else but self defense and the jury agreed. CASE CLOSED

Zimmerman may have shot in self defense. The only witness besides the shooter is dead so we will never really know. The problem I have with this whole case is that Zimmerman created the situation by stalking this unarmed kid who had every right to be where he was.

If I had been a teenager returning home from a trip from the store and was continually followed in a vehicle and then on foot by an unknown male adult who does not verbalize his intentions, I would have been worrying about my own defense. Who is this guy? What does he want from me? Why is he following me? Is he the "Stranger Danger" I have been warned about since the time I could play outside by myself? These are all questions Trayvon Martin no doubt asked himself that night and no doubt wondered how he was going to protect HIMSELF from this ARMED stranger.

I hear a lot of folks putting themselves in Zimmerman's shoes, but few attempting to relate to that innocent teen that rainy night.

Darlin, you are correct CASE CLOSED, but not because of self defense but because there just was not enough evidence to convict him. If I was on that jury, and based on what I read, I could not in good conscience convict him. Move on with this. Maybe they should fix the Florida law that created this mess.

shammy, you didn't watch the trial. Eye witness saw Trayvon striking Zimmerman with ground and pound MMA strikes. Did you miss that. Hello. Trayvon could have gone home, but he decided to hide in the bushes and confront GZ and he struck the first blow. Remember, jury agreed with me. I watched the trial every day. Obviously you did not.

Here let me explain it really slow to you Sham.

Mentally Selective: To pick and choose pieces of stories, articles, and conversations that suit your needs and present that as complete, coherent, and logical thoughts.

In other words, what I meant was, you pick things out of articles and/or subjects that is 'convenient' to the point you're attempting to make and try to pass them off as reasonable logic. You fail at it however.

Darlin, Zimmerman could have gone home, too, and let the police handle it. He was told by 911 dispatcher that it was not necessary to continue to follow Trayvon. Trayvon was TRYING to get home but was being stalked by an unknown armed adult.

It sounds like you want to blame Trayvon for his own death when in fact he was minding his own business when he was targeted by a guy who falsely assumed criminality. Zimmerman created this situation and it blew up on him.

Had I been on the jury, I too could not have convicted him on the evidence. But there is clearly something wrong with a system that allows the setup of this type of scenario that can only end badly, as this one did for both parties involved.

Rick, the Florida law did not create this Martin Mess. The media and the Justice Department created it. If Zimmerman was Black-Hispanic, we would have never heard of what happened.
