Holy crap, I use some simple, conservative, free-market logic and everyone bites for my throat. You people really oversimplified my argument into something it's not. "Strawtarget" logic as they say. I didn't have to use language like "externalities". I put it really simple so people might consider the possibilities. And some of you people don't know east from west. If I'm not mistaken, the closed down pools are next to Memorial park. It's east if you live in Newberry.

Sounds like a kid whining that his half of the sandwich is smaller then that of his sister. This letter is so beyond DUMB!

I'd LOVE to know where these high paying jobs are that allow people to live lives of luxury as you speak.

I understand that not everyone agrees with our Mayor and that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion, but this letter is both ignorant and naïve.

"What I recently realized is that downtown commerce can employ people from the west end."

Do you mean to tell me that I don't have to work on the same block where I live? If only he had told me this before, but then, he only just realized it himself. OK, I have to believe that the writer was being sarcastic, because I can't bear to think he really just figured that out. Maybe next, someone will figure out that you can get a job somewhere else and move to a nicer neighborhood there.

While these are a few years old it may explain why the Mayor does get critized so often on economic affairs. Williamsport Estimated median household income in 2009: $27,016 Estimated per capita income in 2009: $17,348 Pennsylvania: $49,520 WIlliamsport has a tendency to give tax breaks and funding to those employers who do not pay a sustainable wage.

The mayor keeps the downtown area maintained and pretty so it looks good on a travel brochure.

I would like to know where all these high paying, center city jobs are that would afford folks on the west end to build pools and move to "nicer neighborhoods". Surely the letter writer is using sarcasm. Isn't he?
