Conclusion being, Republicans are anti-intellectual, Democrats are weak, marijuana should not be criminalized, and if Zimmerman had been smoking it he would've never left his house. Good luck hearing that on the O'Reilly Factor.

Mr. Sullivan, judging by this letter, you obviously been smoking it.

The writer's assessment of the news media is accurate. With CNN, HLN and the rest, news broadcasts are not so much about the news anymore, but, rather the "show". We see, hear & read what we are fed by the media. It is not expected or desirable to have our own thoughts regarding the news, only what the networks want us to think. Can it be much longer before we're no longer a society of free thinkers, only spoon-fed idiots?

Maybe so Jim, but to state as the author did that most media outlets are conservative is anything but fact.

Poor, innocent little Trayvon likely did not know that Zimmerman was armed. That's why he (poor, innocent little Trayvon) decided to lie in wait in some bushes and attack that cracker Zimmerman. Had poor, innocent little Trayvon known that Zimmerman was packing he (poor, innocent little Trayvon) would likely have sought some sort of weapon for himself prior to hiding in the bushes to ambush that cracker Zimmerman and would probably have wound up bludgeoning him (Zimmerman, that cracker) to death. Had that been the case, America would likely have never heard a G.D. thing about it.

Come on Larry, you know the facts like that don't mean anything to guy like this. The liberal outlets he listens to and reads told him Zimmerman was armed and in his mind he was walking around with the gun in his hand at his side in open view like you see in the movies.

Some good humor there Larry but your accusation that most media outlets are conservative is inaccurate. Even Fox News "tows the line" now and then. Must be the fact that they are not "a real news organization", at least according to this administration. Especially that James Rosen guy trying to undermine the gov't.

I also would defy any "liberal" who was pro-privacy when Bush/Cheney were wiretapping, but, all of the sudden, hunky dory when President Obama is normalizing the same McCarthyistic practice." - Michael Sullivan

You can't very-well bust "conservatives" (here), for "regurgitating" White-Wing radio's talking-points, then...do the same.

Where are your references, to support the allegation the Obama Admin is wire-tapping anyone?

Please!! I was a CNN-fan, right-AFTER their inception...when they (actually) did news.

When Ted Turner gave-up controlling-interest, new-management felt there was a "need" to copy the FAUX Noise format...because of FAUX's appeal to the least-educated; the (growing) Idiocracy-herd.

We "see, hear & read what we" PATRONIZE!! Ya' can't very-well criticize The Marketplace for giving customers what they demand.

You prefer the "quivering, little lump of deference"-option, huh?

You'd have made someone a great, "little" wife...back in the '50s.

I agree that left leaning tv news programs outnumber conservative, but radio is a whole different story. One can hear white men drowning out the airwaves with anger and hatred all day and all night. I watch it all on tv, from Hannity and O'Reilly to Maddow and Matthews and have even called into Rush's radio show.

To say one does not get his news from the "media" is a stretch. We all get our news from the media of some sort, whether it be tv, radio, print, or online. Unless on witnesses first hand, the "media" is the only other source. Correct me if I am wrong. Our job as viewers is to understand the presenters' biases. And they ALL have one; right, left, or in the middle. Period. Some are just more blatant about it.

I do watch Fox and the problem I have with them is that they often present off opinion as news. They are also very selective in the news they do present, often last page, last section news presented as top stories that validated a particular point of

A University of Maryland study on the impact of the news business on good citizen ship found that voters who did pay attention to the news were less likely to be misinformed, unless of course, their source was Fox News. This was true if either Republican or Democrat. Sorry folks, but that’s what was found. And on many issues: they believe most scientists disagree with climate change, that Obama initiated the auto bailout, there were no tax cuts in the stimulus, most Republicans opposed TARP, the “birther” issue, believed it was “unclear” if Obama was US born among a host of other falsehoods about a sitting president.

And when faced with this study, Fox erroneously claimed U of MD to be full of “school for lazy inebriates…Students Who Study the Least," and being the `Best Party School.' Fox’s Mike Clemente was as misinformed as his viewers. UM ranked by The Princeton Review as one of the “Best Northeastern Colleges” and barely ranked 20 as a “party” school.

"I [as a non-criminal with my own set of laws] ruminate various channels [while smoking marijuana], publications [while getting high], and websites [while expanding my mind] while sitting in my house [consuming mass quantities], in order to ultimately arrive at an evidence-based [the world according to Michael] conclusion [using my self acclaimed intellectual, non-weak mind] and I defy [let me sound strong and work up some courage to confront] any conservative, gun advocate, lunatic [need to throw in this extremism that doesn't apply but achieves validity to my point and puts the other side on the defensive], etc. who would not tell their son or daughter [twist and reword the truth]; "If an armed stranger is stalking you...hurt them.""---Michael Sullivan, contextualized

Sounds like the letter writer has been smoking something here?? Say what?? You don't have to watch the news to realize that our country is in decline, just try to find a good paying full-time job, put gas in your car and go to the hospital for an ICU stay and pay the bill, pay your mortgage and go to the grocery store. Are things better for you today than they were in 2008?

Entertainment, don't forget that is what the media is. They have their following of people and they keep them feed so they will return the next day. It is good for TV ratings, bringing in commercial advertising dollars, and being paid well.

I feel left out since no one mentioned my favorite, Special Report with Bret Baier and his special guests.

...At least, that's what Zimmerman insists.

I'm guess it was MORE like...Zimmerman tried to play "Joe Friday"...and, got an ass-kickin' for his efforts. What "macho-man" would want to admit that, to anyone.

You White-Wingers surely-do..."conveniently"..."forget" that part.

Zimmerman "bit-off, more than he could chew"...plain & simple.

NOW, he's (actually) amazed that Texas-cops don't recognize him!! He's a punk...a "short-timing" punk.
