Where’s the outrage?

August 4, 2013

Well, another Philadelphia drug thug killing in Williamsport happens and where is Al Sharpton? How about Jesse Jackson? Or Eric Holder? Or Barack Obama? Where are the throngs of sign-carrying......

Why doesn't PD's son have the spine to carry on the family tradition?

Until they address the rising addiction problem in this city, the dealers from Philly will continue to come. The profit margin they make here compared to Philly is too great not to take advantage of the local addicts.

Doesn't fit the profile that Jackson and Sharpton require.

Not one reasonable letter. I have read 3 or 4. Wow! Tony L. Bacon, 39, 671 Campbell St., two to five years, 100 hours community service, credit for 111 days served for possession with intent to deliver less than one gram of ******. Philly trash, like everyone is from Philly is a criminal. Capricorn has the only well-reasoned statement. andy - PD Mitchell's son does not live in Lycoming County. He worked in our county but has lived outside the county for most of his life.

Capricorn1 has it exactly right. Without users, the dealers and their problems will go away.

Spike, yes there are local dealers, but I have a niece that is an addict and before she moved out of state to be with her parents, she spoke to me at length about her addiction and how easy it is to get the drugs in this town. And yes she did state that there is a large amount of dealers that make the trip from Philly because of the profit they make. She also stated that a lot of the dealers that do live here were originally from Philly and they too, drive there to get their supply. However, to continue to blame Bloom for a decision that was made decades ago is completely off base. There is a whole new breed of peddlers out there and they stop at nothing to sell their product. That is the violence you are witnessing locally.

BTW Spike, I always enjoy commenting with you. You probably recognize my writings under a different screen name. It appears that my last screen name was too "manipulative" to some.

I have no idea how the "Tony Bacon" news article ended up in my comment.

Why does everything have to fall back to "black on black or white on white" statistics?

Why can't it just be that bad people have done bad things?

Where is the outrage for THAT. Why does it automatically have to be:

"A black guy shot another black guy today... In other news.."

Sound about right? Seriously, it frustrates me. Are a lot of these "problem people" black? Okay fine, yes they are. But the fact of the matter is, people aren't statistics, good or bad. They're people and this is as simple and as complicateed as one person shooting another.

Other comments that have been made suggest you must remove the users from the equation, that is absolutely correct. If dealers have no on e to deal with, they will go where they do.
