August 12, 2013

A lot of good comments here, especially yours meredith.

Wintergirl, with the utmost respect intended,I no longer even read your posts at this point. The way you type them out is so hard on the eyes it's almost unbearable to read.

"Faith in God is the central focus of his life. He believes the country, which was founded on Christian principles, needs to get back to God." Where is this in the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence? There is no mention of God in the Constitution of the United States.

reading some of these comments certainly confirms what Mr Engle says. It appears that most do not want any part of God or religion...and look what that has done..Our country is at war with evil..and this evil is after our children. This steady decline in faith in God has taken it's toll.

VERY well said...I agree totally..I know of so many young people that have been enticed into the world of drugs including a close relative..i hate to look at the obituaries for fear of seeing the next death from an overdose..Williamsport seems to be the hub of this activity but it is steadily creeping into the smaller surrounding towns. Somehow we need to get rid of this scum that is killing our children...

DMarie, I don't think some people realize just how bad it's getting. It is affecting all walks of life and is impacting so many people, not just in our city but across the country. The war on drugs has been one big colossal failure and they did nothing to concentrate on the disease of addiction. I'm afraid it's going to get much worse before it gets better.

@ScienceIsKing, Good call on the placement of punctuation. I will disagree and say that if you call someone an "uneducated moron" it would seem as though you do have a problem with them.

Josh84,

By the way, you point out my grammatical errors, but you should check yours.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Your name calling and grammar(lack Thereof) show your "education".

josh84,

If I'm correct, the Big Bang is a theory, not a scientific fact. Scientist are allowed to break away from theories. Scientific facts would be processes such as how stars and planets form. I don't mind those who believe in God, but if I have to read about it, then I'm going to offer my opinion.

Laughlin, I know them well. They are usually the same one that complain about taxes and expect government to do everything for them, including thinking the police department is their own private security firm. Like the old saying goes... put up or shut up.

Shirley, be careful mentioning neighborhood watch on here. There are some that will call you a Zimmerman wanna be. I have been involved in the program and have been preaching it's benefits for quite some time now and I really hope now that the Sun Gazette and the district attorney are giving the Program the attention it deserves, maybe more people will get involved.

Honest to dog! This is a serious article about the devolution of our neighborhoods and all the folks can comment on is this guy's religious beliefs. Really!

Keep your religious beliefs to yourself and your pals you worship with on Sat/Sun. The rest of the week, come down to earth and DEAL WITH the issues. Join a neighborhood watch or start one if you have to. DO something right here in the real world! Praying is nice but action gets results.

"Anyone who believes that some entity created this planet in a week is an uneducated moron."

Besides, Sciences "Big bang" theory sounds much more absurd, and has members of the scientific community parting from it(and disagreeing with it)all the time.

Meredith, well said. Now that line of thinking is in no way being judgmental toward those that believe or don't believe. I have never judged anyone for their religious beliefs and I have never pushed mine on anyone. If the gentleman in this article gets comfort and emotional support from his beliefs, then who are we to judge him for that.

(continued from previous post) However, expecting others to believe the same as them is wrong. Everyone has different beliefs and different needs. Assuming a person is morally wrong because they don't believe the same as you is one of the worst assumptions a person can make about another. It's time to start accepting our differences and working around them, not against them.

Religion can be a good thing or a bad thing. If a person puts too much energy into believing that their god will do everything for them it can have disastrous results. (Like the children who die of curable diseases because their parents believed that their prayers would heal them.) It can also have good results. (Like when someone uses the word of their god to influence themselves and help others in need.) On of the problems with religion is when someone thinks that their religion is the answer to all of life's problems. Yes, we have some serious problems in today's society but the Christian god is not the answer to those problems anymore than the Hindu god or Roman gods are. If you take a look at statistics you'll see that the majority of crimes are not committed by atheists. Does that mean society should eradicate religion? I don't think so. I think some people need religion in their lives. (continued)

"Believe in yourself and work hard on issues you believe in. The invisible man is a crutch for lazy people who don't want to put forth the effort to make things happen themselves." -KB3KUK

My choice to believe and have faith is a personal one that also helped me when I served this country honorably for close to three decades. If that makes me lazy, then I'm proud to be in the same class as the millions of other lazy servicemen and women that have served for their country and believe in their God. Your disdain towards us that believe, only strengthens my faith. Have a good day and may God bless you.

It's Never Going To End For It's Instilled Here In The Minds Of The Insane. So Very Sad That Our Children Can't Have , Live Their Innocent Precious Young Lives Without Fear , Hate , Rage In Today's Society Of Those That Have Made Life A Living*****For All. : (

Anyone who believes that some entity created this planet in a week is an uneducated moron. I can't stand it and it makes me sick. God is always the reason why something happened. Give me a break. People are not violent because they don't believe in God.
