August 19, 2013

The Constitution says our military was organized to protect our borders but in reality it is being used to guard the borders of foreign countries and drugs are flowing North across the Mexican border....

"The Taliban had (pretty-much) wiped-OUT opium-production, in Afghansitan. It was George Jr. who'd decided not to interfere with it's resurgence. The drug-trade FINANCES War-efforts. Anyone, in the CIA, will verify that...as-well-as Ollie North."

Sham did you learn all that from PMSNBC? Maybe from that guy Maddow?

Not true. I have all the respect, in the World, for someone like Butler...who's honorable-enough to state the FACTS...no matter WHO those FACTS might hurt.

Seriously...you don't believe (ANY) Wars are driven by economic/business-interests?????

Stopping the flow of drugs, now there is a question. There are times that I wonder if certain agencies or departments of our Gov. would REALLY like to stop or strangle it too much." - Scott36

Jerry, are you talking about the War Powers Act of 1941 or the War Powers Resolution of 1973?

So Howard, Why don't you tell us what you really think about drug users? Better yet, why don't you try to make some kind of coherent point with your letter? The first part of the first sentence looked like you were going somewhere; then it quickly spiraled into chaos. I have little patience for drug users or politicians (sometimes it's hard to tell the difference?), but even less for people who can't write a decent letter.

MrShaman, Just an observation I would like your take on. I personally enjoy your posts.(I may have a difference of opinion on some) It is QUITE obvious that just a few others do not share my view, I see "a couple" insults thrown your way, yet few rebuttals, may I have your take on this?

i am not touching the military either. i would need far more information to do so. I would also need to know the writers military experience before giving credence to "cowards". i think this is individual and situational.

Here we go again. Sham running his mouth about a man (were he living), whose boots Sham wouldn't be fit to shine. Maj Gen Butler was a proud marine for 33 years who received many, many medals for valor. Sham continually tries to blacken his career with crap that has been twisted beyond the recognition of even the General!

Give it up Sham.....you are nothing but a military hating hack!

If I meant Fox News I would have said Fox News, by the way there is more than Fox News in right wing media. There is radio, web sites, print.

Where does the Constitution say that? I reread it also trying to see where in the Constitution it states that. He must have been listening the right wing media again.

"There is too much money involved in the illegal drug trade and until that goes away the drug trade is here to stay. Period." - sideliner

When something/some substance is made illegal, the profit-margin (on it) is GREATLY-enhanced!!!

Who knew that, better, than Al Capone?

With prices/taxes where they are, presently, I can't help (but, think) there MUST be a fairly-healthy black-market for tobacco-products.

Misuse of the military, I will not touch that one at this point.

Stopping the flow of drugs, now there is a question. There are times that I wonder if certain agencies or departments of our Gov. would REALLY like to stop or strangle it too much. If they did, might they lose funding or manpower? If it gets worse, might they get more funding and/or manpower. If it gets worse, do they stand to gain more legal authority/power? I hope that somebody can explain to me that my concerns are misplaced.

Aw, c'mon...our Military's been used, a "little"-more effectively, than THAT!!!

"I spent 33 years and 4 months in active service as a member of our country's most agile military force--the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from second lieutenant to Major General. And during that period I spent most of my time being a high-class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer for capitalism." - Major General Smedley D. Butler, USMC

Howard, I read, re-read and read again the US constitution and I cannot for the life of me see where the Constitution states that. What it does say in "Article VI : Section 4. The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence." In essence since 2 of the criteria are met, we are under an invasion from illegals from other nations that are causing a tremendous amount of violence it is the responsibility of the federal government to repel this invasion, not coddle it.
