Anxious

I’m still trying to reason why the people that we voted into office voted to allow American “citizens” (sorry Seattle) to be arrested, charged, and imprisoned indefinitely without trail or......

Mr. Wrigley, while I'm not a fan of the PRISM program being used by the NSA, I think you have been watching way too many movies.

If I ever watched a movie and believed everything it contained could actually happen I'd gladly admit myself for some sort of mental examination.

Now on the other hand I just reviewed and email I sent my cousin about an upcoming fishing trip.

Should I be concerned that I used the words "stink bait"?

"Do you feel safe criticizing your government?"

++

I believe that is what happens on the S/G LTE forum much of the time.

We are fortunate that we don't live in some of the other countries in the world. Here we have many morals influenced by Christian values woven through the fabric of our government and constitution.

After reading this LTE, I'm glad that I don't spook too easily. "Do you feel safe criticizing your government?" Personally, I do. Also after reading these threads for quite awhile, IMO all of the posters here are "American" enough to not have to lose any sleep over it.

Actually, I've been condemned many times by a few of our liberals friends on here, for doing just that. And God forbid if you take a jab at President Obama because you may be labeled a racist. It is every citizen's responsibility to question their government. They are in office to serve the people, not the other way around.

The people "protecting" us are scanning the airwaves for bad people talking to other bad people; or some unlucky soul using the wrong word or phrase at the wrong time. They can go after your family, your career, your reputation; they can make your life a living nightmare. Do you feel safe criticizing your government?" - Gregory Weigle

There's no sense in getting too-paranoid. Their ***et$ wouldn't go very far, at all, if they went after every individual who'd criticized the government.

Most of the time, IMO, Gregory makes sense. In this LTE he should have read and re-read the letter, then said 'fugetaboutit'.

...And, made EVERY effort to convert the local-"heathens" (after we'd first-arrived...and, after), whether they wanted-to, or not.

Yeah..."great"-advertising.

This guy admitted in his last letter that he was a conspiracy theorist. What did you think he was going to write.

To answer his question, yes I do fell safe in criticizing our government. If however you are plotting against our government you are not safe from it.

It happens both ways. On threads with another paper, Conservatives, because of my opposition to the Iraq war & torture accused me of not being a patriot, of being a terrorist lover, being un-American, being a traitor, treasonous, & a few other things I care not to repeat. Either way it is wrong, without sound reasons for making your comments.

Scott I was called the same names when I spoke out against the Patriot Act. Frankly I don't let opinions by either side of the aisle influence my beliefs.

Well Capricorn1 you are new to the forum. However as Scott36 related many of 'the liberal friends' who post here have been attacked for their views by you fellow conservatives/libertarians. If you spoke out against the Iraq or GWB you were called a traitor, un-American, unpatriotic or worse. We have been called racist also. If you are going to dish it out you better be able to take it.

This is mild compared to what it was a few years ago.

I was driving on the Beltway and passed an unmarked van with a whole bunch of antennae on top of it. I was talking on the cellphone and almost lost reception. These guys ARE scanning us. Instead of making fun of the LTE, open up your mind a little and think about how the gov't is watching you.

So Mr. Zook you were driving and talking on your cellphone at the same time.

Did you know the government can see you through your cell phone? Your computer? your TV? A designer has made outfits for someone like you It is made of tinfoil to disrupt scanners and scanning. You should seriously purchase a few of his designs.
