"I told the borough secretary...."

Localguy, THAT was your first mistake. Over the years, I've had occasion to go to Boro Hall in order to discuss an issue or two with someone there. The secretary was usually the first...and person there. More often than not, I'd come away dissatisfied because I had been stonewalled by the secretary, who I felt was parroting whatever she was instructed to say. I feel the Boro. officials need to be more accessible to their constituents and not abdicate their responsibilities to an underling.

You hit the nail on the head localguy. That is exactly why they do not want people having yard sales. It takes away from the money being spent elsewhere.

While we're at it, why don't we complain about how they're digging the h e l l out of West Southern Ave just shortly after paving it?

I used to live in South Side and did not realize about the no yard sales during LL, until I wanted to hold one. I asked why and the answer was" because it creates parking issues". I told the borough secretary that I lived west of Percy St, how will my yard sale create parking issues for LL. I even lived between Central and Mountain. She then told me it was fair to all not to have them. SW Borough does not want "us" taking money from the LL crowd that could be spent elsewhere. Make that ordinance for any resident east of Market St only.

Quit'cha whinin'.Those lateral replacements were likely scheduled quite a few weeks ago, not excusing the timing, but it is a project the homeowner must have done and at their cost and convenience. As for the "No Parking" signs, many streets in the borough near LL are very narrow and are not conducive to parking on both sides. When I first moved into the borough 15 years ago they allowed parking on both sides and I can tell you when people park right up to the edge of your driveway and on the other side of the street do the same thing, since the driveways are in a staggered formation, unless you drive a geo metro, you cannot get out into the street. We even had people totally block our driveway and a neighbors more than once, those were towed. Yard sales and block parties would be a great idea for LL week. South should become more active in making this a once a year event.
