Copper is 3x more toxic than fluoride (according to EPA MCLs), yet it is used to convey our drinking water. I'm going to side with CMReeder. It is not a poison when regulated. If you drink too much water you will die, should we stop drinking water now?

"No...I've NEVER (knowingly) "consumed" anything expelled by FAUX Noise, Porky Limbaugh OR the NY Post. Unlike too-many T-Baggers, I'm still in-possession of all my (original) literacy-faculties."

Me thinks Sham is not telling the truth here, considering the fact that he seems to know EVERYTHING coming out of these news outlets.

We do know how he spews drivel that comes from the Axis of Ignorance, PMSNBC, Colbert and Stewart. And then there is the biggee.....YouTube!!!! In his spare time, he likes his t-bagging p o r n.

Sham's comments are just sooooooo worthless!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

"Why are local dentists lying to us and harming our children?" -Paul Rinker

Interesting question.

Enigma, As for myself, I meant it as a joke. I myself am ignorant of this subject. My wife(licensed dental hygienist) informs me that it is quite beneficial. This is the real extent of my knowledge, I just remember many years ago that there was a lot of bickering about it. I truly thought it was a settled subject being "reincarnated" if you will.

Chuck,"Fluoride is not a poison. It is an ion. It can be toxic if not regulated like anything else. It is not a poison."

Have you no shame? Do you know what an ion is? Obviously not. It's not a poison, it's a toxin? Really? The EPA regulates it because it's a toxin (if it weren't, they couldn't regulate it). Toxic and poisonous the same thing. Do you make a practice of ingesting "safe levels" of toxins? Here's something you probably didn't know. There are many different types of fluorides. The fluoride that is added to drinking water is an industrial waste that is not allowed to be discharged into waterways. So you can't put it in the water you put your boat in, but you can put it in the water you drink. Does that make sense to you?

The WHO report says that there is Mr. Rinker is lying.

Fluoride is not a poison. It is an ion. It can be toxic if not regulated like anything else. It is not a poison.

Scott and Rick, I assume by referring to the 50s and 60s, that you're referring to the idea at the time that fluoridation was a Communist plot. I don't hear anyone saying that today, and even then there weren't that many. It was just a red herring used by those in favor of fluoridation to make the opposition look crazy. The renewed opposition to fluoride since the 90s is based on science. Look at the science and make up your mind. Look at both sides so you can make an intelligent decision. Don't be a Chuck or a Sham and assume you are already right so all you need to do is look for people that agree with you.

Chuck,"Second lie fluoride is not a poison."

Really? Then why did HHS request that the EPA reduce the level in drinking water. Why does the EPA regulate the discharge of fluoride into waterways? Because they have studies that show the dangerous effects of fluoride. Even these dentists wouldn't try to tell you it wasn't poison. I can't think of a better way to completely wreck your credibility than to say that fluoride is not a poison.

Chuck,"WHO says there is a benefit in using fluoride. So Mr. Rinker lied."

No, it is WHO that lied. Their own study shows that there is no benefit, but they still claim there is. Like any good group of liberals, they conveniently ignore the data if it disagrees with their agenda.

The Oregon study is political not scientific has been refute by the science community. Portland has voted against fluoride in the water supply because they don't want the government regulating it.

The CDC reports that for every $1 spent on fluoridation $38 is saved in dental care.

Chuck,"So the very first statement about fluoride from Mr. Rinker is a lie."

Wrong again Chuck. He didn't say that the WHO doesn't recommend the use of fluoride. He said that their study showed no benefit from using fluoride. Those are two different things. The WHO is a liberal organization and like any liberal organization, their policies do not have to fit their data. I have to admit that I don't know why liberals want to poison the water supply, but it is one of their golden calves. Chuck, you need to learn to discern differences. What you said and what Mr. Rinker said are not incompatible, it just shows that U.N. organizations are inconsistent. Is that a surprise to anyone?

If you go to the WHO web site you will find that they say there is a benefit from adding fluoride to either one of the following; water supply, salt, milk. You add that to personal oral products with fluoride added and used. They reduce caries and improve oral health. They even have guidelines for acceptable levels of fluoride in water, salt, milk.

So the very first statement about fluoride from Mr. Rinker is a lie.
