"How about zoning off a section of the city for slums & drugs?"

Still think we should fence in Philly like in the movie Escape from New York. In fact, there was also a movie where that was done in L.A. Perhaps what we need is a city in each area, North, East, South and West, to hold the lifers, sexual perverts, etc.

CMReeder, Good point, I just liked the creativity of the way he vented his frustrations. Hope you are having a nice day. Scott

Zoning refers to use of an area. Is it for residential homes, business, industrial, agriculture and so on.

It is not about 'me' and my right, it is about'us' and our right.-CMReeder

This was an excellent letter. Mr. Reeder I believe you bring up a good point, we should all try to remember that much more positive can come out of all of us sticking together.

I really feel for this guy and have a ton of respect. These are the people politicians and police should listen to. However, I'm not really clear on what he means by "zoning". Guess I could look it up. Does it mean taxing etc.? Someone please enlighten me.

Capricorn1, that is a good possibility. I think that some people only think of themselves and no one else or anything else. Whilee it is true that an individual has a right to property it is also true that all individuals have a right to property. I think that sometimes we forget that. It is not about 'me' and my right, it is about'us' and our right.

This is one of the best letters I have read all year. My hat is off the the author for having the self control to hold their anger in check and and focus it to use the stiletto of sarcasm and satire rather than a sledge hammer to make their point!!

Chuck what you are referring to is a total lack of discipline and respect in today's society. People have no respect for anyone else's property. Chidren aren't born pigs, it's a learned behavior.

Born, It is not like the company ignore either. Every meeting we had employees are told they are neglecting housekeeping and that it was part of their duties on the job. Everytime I go out on the floor we have to pick up after the previous 2 shifts. It takes a good 30 minutes sometimes just to clean up. They are reminded that a clean work area is a safe area to work in. Maintenance is the worst, they come out do repairs and then leave the mess for you to clean up.

Zippie, I'm thinking that would be considered discrimination by some. How do you contain it to one area? Freedom of movement is one thing that makes this country great.

I don't understand why anyone wastes their time and energy reading and then responding to "MrShaman"! When was the last time he posted something that contributes to the discussion?

Mr. Reeder you are correct, when I had my cleaning business I had several contracts for industrial cleaning and the office people were just as bad as the people in the shop and the bathrooms were always a nightmere, one factory I had in Montgomery was the worst place I had ever cleaned.

Sham the racist,"Fortunately, "they're" an easily-identifiable color (as usual), right??"

This guys a bigger racist than all the members of the KKK, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson put together. We can't get through one discussion without him dragging race into it. The worst part is that he doesn't see his blind rage and hatred for what it is. He thinks he's the tolerant one.

We caught one guy taking a whiz by his machine and then walk over to the bottle water fountain to wash his hands. Needless to say he no longer works there.

Bet we have all seen this behavior at the workplace. I work in industrial factory setting. I am always picking up after someone else. They don't sweep even though a broom is right there. They do not throw away the wrappers, empty drinking bottles, uneaten food in the trash can which is also close by. They can't replace the empty water bottle in the drinking fountain and then place back in the rack. They can't throw the used paper towels fom drying their hands into the trash can. They also can not flush a toilet. They will empty their ashtray from their cars onto the parking lot at work. This disrespect is everywhere.

Do what my friend in MD did, post a sign; "This property is under video surveillance. Littering is against city statutes and you will be fined 100.00. All video will be turned over to police that depicts you trashing my yard." He said it worked like a champ.
