New school year, new school lineup

As the 2013-14 school year begins Monday for the Williamsport Area School District, students, teachers and administrators won’t only need to adjust to new classes and study material, but a new grade......

Populations change.. family size has shrunk... buildings become obsolete and cost effective to close rather than rehab... I've been monitoring this new change, and if it helps the students learn and grow, i'm all for it. The idea of a "District" middle school is a great idea. I hope it goes well, Billtown.. I'm sure the old rivalries between the "Junior Highs" will be missed, but 'this too shall pass'...Good luck !!

Note also that the new configuration allows for 2 fewer schools for the district to pay administrative overhead costs for. The all-district middle school idea was also a good one.

In a small town with a dwindling population and less people to tax...the few are left to carry the burden on expensive renovations that have nothing to do with a good education....God help us!
