Marianne: "I saw at least 300 seats empty on the final game." That could be because many times that amount chose to sit in the marvelous grass bleachers past the outfield. "The street fair was a joke, no fireworks and no special events for these kids." Fireworks are a great idea. The street fair wasn't for the Little League teams. The parade the week before was. The fair was for those who came to visit the World Series. Room for improvement, sure. But, better than your post depicted, in my opinion.

I have to give all of the credit to the kids. They put on a wonderful show. Williamsport...not so much. For all the money that is brought into this area, you would think a more professional reception for these kids and their families would be provided by both Williamsport and South Williamsport. I saw at least 300 seats empty on the final game. The street fair was a joke, no fireworks and no special events for these kids. They are not here just to provide this part of the country with money opportunities and Williamsports' greed is showing. With the whole world watching, Williamsport managed a mediocre and amateur place for these kids and their families to visit for two weeks. Quit patting yourself on the back...except for the kids and their heart. It is all about the kids. The city needs to be a much better host and this may be the reason why in two years, if the rumor is correct, Williamsport may be losing the Little League World Series.

Francine I'm not going to harp on the contract between LLBB and ESPN too much because yes it's a lot of money, but the network does provide excellent coverage and it enables families and kids from around the word to see the games. Many family, friends and team supporters that are not able to afford to make the trip are also able to watch.
