Misinformation

August 28, 2013

Your assertion (editorial, 8/16) that Obamacare will be unaffordable to the majority of workers and businesses is based on misinformation about the new Affordable Care Act....

"The exchanges, or marketplaces, being set up in the states are designed to give the rest of us the benefit of belonging to a large group, such as Medicare or big corporations, which will finally bring coverage within a price range that the majority of Americans can afford." - Alison Hirsch

Wanna bet? The ACA wasn't designed to "reduce costs", it was designed to provide everyone with healthcare coverage.

Did you hear Obama say that for many people, the cost for coverage will be less than your cell phone bill. Does anybody believe that? Does anybody with a bare minimum of common sense think that is possible?

Why does it seem like one has to check their common sense at the door in order to believe anything we have been told about Obamacare?

Why did congress exempt themselves and their staff from Obamacare on the grounds that the cost of complying would be a hardship on them?

Yeah Vince. I heard the Liar-In-Chief make that statement. Wonder why my medicare bill every month is well over $150.00 and my cell phone is $14.50?

"The prices in California, along with those announced in Washington, Vermont and other states, show that premiums under "Obamacare" can be more affordable than had previously been thought. Consumer advocates welcomed the new exchange.

"It's a revolutionary improvement to move from a broken market where people are charged by how sick they are, to a competitive market where people pay what they can afford, based on a percentage of their income, on a sliding scale," said Anthony Wright, executive director of advocacy group Health Access.

"Most consumers buying coverage in the individual market will get financial help and see their premiums go down," he said." - NBC News 5/24/2013

The last line is the "key". The money for that "financial help" has to come from somewhere.

BINGO!!!!

The policy I had ('96 thru '03; initially, $245/mo.) had gone-up $30 (by 2000), and proceeded to increase $100/mo. (each year,AFTER), to $575/mo., in 2003!!

What for-profit companies were DOING, were keeping their STOCKHOLDERS happy...with INCREASING-returns...like they were USED-to, all thru the '90s!!!

How "convenient", it must be, that there's no price (to pay), every time "conservatives" predict scenarios...that NEVER HAPPEN...and, they've had PLENTY of practice, since 2008!!

I guess you aren't "most" people, USA. I wonder if Obama knows what a typical cell phone bill is? That comment brings to mind how the media would jump on EVERYTHING that GW Bush said that remotely sounded like he might be disconnected from reality. Do you think the media will call Obama on this? Of course not.

Liberals have gotten away with this for decades. Why do you want to keep that privilege for yourselves? We could fill a medium sized book on all the false predictions Liberals have made about Global Warming alone.

People who believe all of the (predicted) horror-stories, regarding Obamacare, believe all KINDS of crazy things. As usual (per all of the DEMONSTRATED benefits, of Obamacare), they'll be disappointed...one more time.

We folks (who've actually been paying-ATTENTION to the reality of the situation) "feel their pain"...and, their neverending-embarrassment.

Now all the legal firms that had a hand in writing the ACA are getting business from corporations to help them navigate thru the regulations. They created additional business for themselves for the next couple of decades.

Francine I LOVE your post about MrHilfirty/Shaman. You have him pegged to a "T." The great liberal know-it-all. Like I said before, this bill will diminish treatment for seniors and there are "death panels," so be ready Sham, your days are numbered.

The healthcare law is apparently so good that most all of Obamas supporters want to be exempted from it, why would that be? Enough said.

How do you get a $14,50 cell phone bill? Guess you don't have a smart phone or Verizon! I'm not sure how we know what the cost will be until the exchanges are actually set up and the competition begins. I may be wrong but I believe employers will be able to purchase group insurance within exchanges. My question Francine, is how a price predictor can be accurate, no matter who crunches the numbers, without accurate base numbers. I don't think anyone knows with certainty. I don't think either side can plug in "anticipated" numbers and arrive at an accurate mathematical result.

Birds of a feather... Yes. The same person... I don't think so.

Lets just say there is a place where some of those on the left go to whisper to each other. This has been brought up and they are in fact not the same person.

I see the pattern here, the liberals*****off the system and the Repubs, conservatives and libertarians are the working people who are being drained of their hard-working money to support the government leaches. I see how liberalism works.
