They don't show the exposed drywall, or the floors that are still torn up. Nor do they show the blocked off areas with plastic. They don't tell you how dusty it is, so much so that my allergies kicked in full force. My son said it smelled. Overall, I can't believe they want the kids to be exposed to all that and more. If I could, I would transfer my kid to a different school.

I do not want to sound unsympathetic jjs8282, but you do have other options. Has the district released any air quality testing results done within the school? If you were having issues, you might want to check on that.

Laughin-There WERE OTHER OPTIONS! Option 1: Close the school while the renovate. If you had young children (and both JS parents and Nippenose Parents were FURIOUS last night) you would be upset also. They should have closed the school for one year and had the contractors go in and build it. What I saw last night was a JOKE! Let me re-iterate before you start bashing the Nippenose parents, many parents I spoke with were upset. Missing and water stained ceiling tiles, concrete floors, water fountains did not work, air condition doesn't work. Cardboard over the windows so the kids can't watch what is happening outside. What a circus this will be.

I'm a Jersey Shore parent. What other options do I have? Send him to the charter school so he can spend over 2 hours on a bus? Or maybe pay for him to go to private/Christian school that I can't afford? Or I could home school and quit my job. Which one should I choose?

jjs-We have no other options. We are stuck with the mess that was created. We just need to hang in there and hopefully this mess will be fixed. Charter school is not a good option and the private schools are way to costly.

The comments here almost bring me to tears. Yes, there are other options Laugh, but not everyone can afford them. My children live 5 minutes away from their Elementary School, but have spent up to 1 hour on a BUS (if it shows up on time). With that being said, I will continually revert back to some good advice I have heard through the years...."How much is your child's education worth to you?" Enough for me or my partner to deliver them or find an alternative means. So much whining....your child will spend a lot of time on a bus regardless of their destination folks.

I will discount no ones needs as I represent my townships honorably. I cannot empathize with a current parent, but I vow to do my best in the eyes of God. As my children no longer attend the district schools but are a product of a good Jersey Shore education. I do live in Piatt Township but my children attended Jersey shore Elementary and that is how I know the school is excellent. Does the building need renovated? Does the faculty need downsized? Can the district consolidate? Yes, but there are to many unanswered questions as to why now. Please visit my community website on facebook: Save Our School District. Our community is worth fighting for, God Bless the faculty and my backers in the primary. We will never let you down, EVER.

Your going to represent my Township and you don’t have any of the answers, God Help Us. I don’t understand how you live in Piatt Township and your children went to JSE? Why so many question marks? Staying positive, the school will get it’s facelift/renovated and the 2013-2014 school year will go on. JSASD is Great!!! Stop the negative.
